A fine outfit for sure! Just wait till your glasses get here and you can see how really nice it is. What would that sidearm be, a Schofield, maybe in .45 Long Colt or a S&W cartridge? With that campaign hat (?) and fine knife, it looks like you're about ready to take on anything.
We're all envious just to see an area like that to hunt in. I'd have to drive 700 miles to see the same. (The carrying out part might get a little wearisome, especially on that bridge!! Nice bag with a 44-40.

Bruce Scott,
Thanks for the info on .310. Boy that's a LOT of info for an old phart like me that doesn't reload at all. I'll have to mull that around and see what happens. I have no way of knowing, but I'd almost bet mine is still in the original chambering.
Irv
Welcome to the forum!! I rarely post on here, but I patrol the forum now and then, and anything .348 peaks my interest. I'd have to agree to leave it as it is. I hunted for years with a 2nd year deluxe, and really enjoyed it. Whitetail deer was about always a one shot stop if I did my part. That's t...
Here's mine.
BSA Cadet rifle, marked 10/11 I've shot mine a few times with 32-20, and the bullets keyholed. I'll have to reread your suggestions on what to reload and give it another try. I haven't shot it in 20 years.
Irv
twobit, Don't ya just hate it when you're gonna go deer hunting, and you're looking for your favorite rifle, and it's 4:00 in the afternoon before you finally find it? A beautiful sight indeed. Looks someone kinda likes 61's too. One of my favorites, also. How long have you been working on tha...
I believe one of the complaints about the post 64 models, as least ones made circa 1972, was the shell lifter was made out of a piece of flat sheet metal as opposed to a forged one. Whether they actually didn't work as well, I don't know, but the pre 64 guys wasn't having none of it!! :o ("chea...
Nate, Very interesting stuff about Rossi. How they EVER made a decent gun with all that going on is a mystery to me. I guess I was one lucky guy to find a used, case colored, octagon barreled, Navy 92, in .45 long colt that had been sent out and slicked up for SASS. It is smooth as glass. I've shown...
Welcome! Come on in and sit a spell. Kind of a newbie myself and don't post much. Just sit back in the corner and listen. Nice folks on here and not much fussin'. After all, we're lever gunners, so how bad can we be??
Irv
Thank you Paul! We all like our levers for sure, but we all like other stuff, too, so if it gets off course a little it, it's no big deal, in my opinion. Just like if you were at my house, or me at yours, we'd show each other our shootin' irons, be it revolvers or black powder or air guns, etc. beca...
I seldom post, but lurk here quite often and find it very congenial. I ran across something of interest on the Gun Values Board a week or so ago and saw a thread where an ex retired cop was asking about the value of something or other and gave a description, and one of the long time gents inquired a...
I don't post often, so my 2 cents worth is probably worth half that. I had one of those way back, and I thought accuracy was less than stellar, as in maybe hit the end of a five gallon bucket at normal short deer hunting distance with factory ammo. I couldn't send it down the road fast enough. :shoc...
Pitchey, you can shoot my 9mm Hi-Power if I can shoot that. Bob would wonder why you ain't been shooting the snot out of it all along. Would have loved to see one of his shows in person. Todd/3leg The wife and I got to see one of his shows at a Chrysler dealership parking lot in Des Moines, Iowa in...
What they said........a beautiful rifle. What a shame on the holes, but it still presents well. Even if you put filler screws in it judiciously done, it would still look nice!
Got a radio in my F-150 and rarely play it........got tinnitus so bad if I turn it up high enough to hear it over the road noise, my ears ring for a whole day worse than they do already!! :D :D And if I want to play it when its setting with the door open the dang door dinger drowns it out. :e...
None for me, was in bed by 10:30. Never had more than 2 beers in a row and that was only once Bought a six pack of Miller Light bottles once for a hot summer.......lasted two years!!!! Oh, and I'm 72
That is a beaut!! Not knowing much about them, how do those rifles take a 44-40 and a 45-60 in the same action or is there a small frame version? Very nice gun!!
That is very interesting and it really puts things in perspective, doesn't it. I've never seen that before. (A billion people.....wow, does that just blow your mind or what?) Thanks for posting. Irv P.S. I find it interesting that the only country in South America that England didn't invade ...
There's a small town 15 miles from here that has a sign on the restaurant billboard that says, (and I may not get this 100% word for word) Welcome to Hedrick We have 842 fine residents and most have concealed carry. We have 0 jails and 2 cemeteries Enjoy your stay!!   Ya gotta like t...
Don't feel bad, I only got 23 / 30.  Davey Crockett got me, so did the plastic pistol. Since I'm not one bit interested in plastic anything, I didn't feel too bad. #22 I didn't get the question.....pistols at dawn!? Dawn of day or dawn of civilization?? What!? Never did know # 28. Oh we...
I can't get over the size of those rabbits. If you could tame down about 8 of those, you could pull a sled in the Iditarod.....
Nice shooting with the old time armament.
Good for you John. Squirrel is thin on the ground around these parts this year. All the best. N. I'm sure you guys remember my squirrel relocation tally last year...90! 8) Well, I'm running a little behind this year......my 6 month total, 39!! The rabbit population is abundant, too; 5 or 6 running ...
I cleaned the wood up this morning and it came out really good. The wood was dirty and smeared....cleaning sure made a difference. I hope my luck hangs in there!! ( Come to think of it, I'm not sure I can afford any more good luck.)
Not to upstage Mossyoaks beautiful 444 Marlin, but I also got another one this weekend at an auction. A Marlin 336 TS "Texan w/ an 18 1/2" bbl made in 1983. I got an identical one a month ago made in 1984. How lucky is that?!! :D I didn't even know they made them and now got 2 in a month. ...
I can't wrap my mind around this. It was a crowded night club -- how could this fellow get a gun into action for more than the first couple of shots without being creamed from behind? And from the left and the right and from below? I'm sorry, I was naughty and need forgiveness, but that pun, intenti...
I put out a brand new sewn 3' X 5' a couple years ago for the Fourth of July......copper pipe pole attached to a fence post 20 feet from my front window. It lasted two days! Someone stole it, ripping it off the mount that was screwed to the post. Kinda lost my desire to put one out after t...
Tried dabbing and selectively rubbing the finish with cloth, and q-tips. Also tried soaking some bluing through a kleenex. Did not get the right kind of finish, then had an idea. I thought that using steel wool might create an interesting effect. So I rubbed the brass with fine steel wool and bluin...

Stevens was sued by Marlin back when the High Power rifles came out. If I remember correctly they settled out of court back then. that IS interesting. not a lot to read about on the stevens highpower.....for instance the top strap has two holes drilled and tapped like the marlin does......wonder if...
. Very nice - I like that High Power ! FYI, the Stevens made approx 26,000 High Power leverguns, designed by John Redfield, in at least 4 flavors, from 1910-1917. The Model 425 - 22" bbl, 2/3 mag, blued finish, plain walnut stocks The Model 430 - M425 + deluxe checkered stock & forearm The...
Very nice gun!! Don't it make you wonder where it has been all its life to be in such fine condition. A hundred years is a LONG time. I just hope I look that good at a hundred.
A great find!
We encountered a blacktail fawn a few years ago that had just been hit by a passing car on a county road outside of town. Its back was broken and it was in excruciating pain. Once a deputy arrived a few minutes later, he took stock of the scene and decided to solve the issue by putting the poor cri...
Well fellers, I'm afraid I succumbed temptation yet again after declaring that I wasn't going to do that again......trying to downsize ya know! Went to a flea market that had a few guns on it and came home with this..... a Marlin TS "Texan" made in 1984 with an 18 1/2" bbl. The...
