Love the sheath idea. I put slings on all my lever actions so no need for the scabbard ( great looking outfit and very good job, I like it) but that knife sheath I really like. Make quite a few knife sheaths also.

Only thing I really do to mine after buying them is cut the rebounding hammer leg off the strut. After that they are all good to go. As far as mechanically being sound. I usually do that before I even take them out for their first sighting in and function check.

I usually cut mine down before I even shoot my rifles after purchase. It is still always nerve racking but never as bad as the first 3 or 4 that you do.

Sorry to hear about your health fight. I love that rifle, and that tang sight would be interesting to try. I put one tang sight on a rifle. Hated it so bad I sold the rifle. I wrap my thumb around the stock and the sight interfered terribly. This one would probably work.

I went to my LGS one time to pick up a High Wall that they had for a while. Got there and some one else was buy it. So he was trading in a Winchester model 61 that I ended up buying and taking home. One day I will buy the high wall.

One thing about the Italian rifles are the soft screws they use. Good rifles but the screws are really soft. I am using 405 grain bullets right now and they are feeding okay, just a little clunky. Grizz if you are anything like me, and I did not do it would eat at me every time I held the rifle and shot it. Have to do it to make it fit my body and at 62 the steel butt plate just is not enjoyable to shoot.
