130 gr Speer is the lightest bullet I've tried one of my Marlins...

The 130gr Speer has a high BC and is a very tuff bullet...
With 37 gr.s of BL-C(2) you can push this streamed lined baby to 2450 FPS

Dang all Marlins (true JM's) go top dollar in this neck of the woods just put a Marlin 30AS 30-30 in layaway for 345.00....Whew , its a Honey though and it has a cross bolt safety..I've come to ignore them..

Even though I'm as happy as a Hawg in slop...I was relly on the lookout for a Savage 99 in 308.....

Maybe be able to do a little swapping in the future

but that 250 Savage is a great round...In my Savage 110 it seemed to handle White Tails in the same fashion of my Sporterized Swede in 6.5X55..

JB Now thats a great rig...30 WCF is my all time favorite round... If i hang on tho the 250-3000 , i may trim the barrel back a bit 20in. or so if the vel. isn't affected so much...I once had a Savage 110 in 250 Savage . and a 257 Bob. once a time in a Ruger 77 ..but thats all my Quarter bore experi...

They fella i'm gettin her from ,says she handles 100 gr.s well..which is good news.. i know with the older 250's there rate of twist is suited for the 87 gr.ers ...but I'll be happy with 100gr. Remmys..

I in the process of tradeing for my first 99..Its a 1916 in 250-3000.
has been refinished and reblued but it was done in good taste..has a williams receiver sight installed ..its a shooter not a collecter..

I have "terminally" (not pressure) tested most 400s and I agree with Grizz A. The Speer is the weakest of all the available 400s. That can be good news if you load to slow velocities or bad news if you load to high velocities. It will do it's best work if the impact velocity is kept below...

I have always had great results with the Ole 405 gr. Rem bullet pushed with 53gr.s of H335 to about 1800Fps. 60gr.s of this propellant will give you 2000 FPS (ouch !)
