Re: Nice Surprise at the Scrap Metal Yard

BTW, I have a system where I prep my necked brass for reloading which starts out with tumbling and inspecting then, then lubing them up. That's followed by a run through my Case Prep toolhead which resizes, decaps and trims them all at the same time. Then another tumbling for 15 minutes to remove th...

Re: 360 Buckhammer

As I said, we have large mule deer (I have 4 in my back yard right now down for what looks like the night) and large elk and moose that are usually taken at longer range due to the topography of the hunting areas in the state. So, a higher energy, larger caliber round is considered the humane way to...

Re: 360 Buckhammer

The whole argument for suing a .44 Mag or .45 Colt for deer hunting is interesting, however, in my opinion it's pretty much an eastern half of the US argument. Out west we have longer range shots and mostly larger deer so many states have enacted rules against small calibers plus minimum muzzle ener...

Yes, our range is private so our board makes up the rules and we luckily don't have any of those money gouging ones you see at 'for profit' ranges that I avoid. Also, I've got some favorite shooting spots in both the Rockies and out in the prairie where I always pack out anything I bring in.

Nope, no cannelure but I use a Lee Factory Crimp die rather than a roll crimp on both my .357 mag and .45 colt and after well over 10K of them, I've never had an issue with bullet setback.

I was at our range last Friday and the range was quiet with only 1 shooter so I checked out the different areas for brass and came back with 21 lbs. of brass from the bins. Well, they make a Rossi 1892 in 454 Casull with a SAAMI spec pressure of 50,000 CUP so I'm thinking that .45 Colt Ruger will be a piece of cake for it. Seriously, the Model 92's action design is super strong and it will do fine with a Ruger only load.
