My only experience with Fiocchi is 380 ACP in my dad's Colt back in the eighties. The pistol didn't like them. Lots of jams. But those pistols had a reputation for unreliability.

My first bet is the scope mount. Could it be backwards? I don't know the mounting pattern on those rifles. Just asking. I would say maybe the receiver holes aren't straight, but that would cause windage issues instead of elevation.

Yes, the meat is very dark and strong. Somewhere between venison and liver. If another shooter picks up my birds, I sure don't sweat it. I'm sure the foxes, coons, and cats get to feast the night after most dove shoots.

Pony up for good clay loads like Win AA. They have harder shot, better wads, and generally pattern better. I like 8 or 7 1/2 shot with an IC choke. If they are flying good, you can pick your shots and get the closer ones. But, bring tighter tubes in case you can't be picky. Blot out the straightcome...

I worked on them with my Ruger 77/22. Haven't seen any for a few years now. I like watching them, but they were felling trees left and right. Highly recommend CCI SGB in 22LR between the eye and ear.

I still have one, but haven't used it for years. Took my first deer with one. I agree with a lot of the comments here. With 115-120 grain bullets, it is a good deer killer. It shoots flat, but not moreso than a 270 or 280 with similiar SD bullets. Blood trails are a lot thinner that those from a 308...

Not really a semi fan, but Benelli's are highly regarded. And they should be for what they cost. I do use my grandaddy's old Remington 58 on doves and clays. It has never jammed on me and I can shoot it pretty well. My 870 Express Turkey does double duty as a defense/varmint gun.

I have a PAST recoil shield I wear on my shoulder when shooting sometimes. It basically spreads the recoil over a broader surface in the chest/shoulder area. Also, a quality pad on the rifle helps a lot. I like Pachmayr Decelerator. Limbsaver and Kickeez are well reputed too.

Like others have said, you are shooting way too much in one day. I think my .270 is a cream puff, but I doubt I could shoot it accurately for 80 rounds. The recoil and noise is cumlative and wears you out over time. I also think you need to spend time on a rimfire or airgun until your flinch is gone...

For me, a Max levergun would only be desirable if it would cycle Mags and possibly Specials as well. I don't think it is possible due to OAL differences. I don't think Anse and Randall served together, or on the same side for that matter. Most of the rest has some historical basis.

I'm enjoying the show. The acting and cinematography are excellent. There is definately some liberties taken with the facts, especially the opening Civil War scenes.
