Re: 450 Marlin in the M94 Will it fit?
They offered the 450 Marlin on the standard Mod. 94 action(or what looked to be standard to the eye) right before Winchester went belly up. It was shaped overall like the Timber Carbine but I don't exactly remember the name of it. It was short lived. I'm not sure what mods were made to accomodate t...

Re: Big Bore 444 Marlin question
Good One! Sometimes I forget the new Winches have all the annoying safety junk. Do they even make 94's presently. I still like the good old type 94's though but I wont say a bad word about the Marlin or Savage.Old Savage wrote:Yes they have the coveted cross bolt safety and the rebounding hammer.

Re: Big Bore 444 Marlin question
OK so I found a pre safety BB in 375 Win. I was looking for 444 barrels and bullet selection. The 44 bullet choices aren't as good as the 45 but I knew that before I started. Then I gets to thinking about the 450 Marlin. Initially I thought this was a poor move in the Hornady/Marlin R+D department (...

Re: Lets Ask Hornady To Make 348 Leverevolution Bullets
How bout we ask Barnes to make a 225gr or so TSX in .348. By the way how do we ask any manufacture to make a specific product? A barrage of spam? J/K

Re: Big Bore 444 Marlin question
Yeah I have a couple 45-70'S, A Marlin and a 1886, 3 model 71's and an 1895. I was just wondering if the 94 BB ever was produced without all the gadgetry attached. Is the 375 Win case rim smaller than the 444 Marlin? And yes I think the Timber Carbine looks real handy and light.

Big Bore 444 Marlin question
I'm looking for a M94 Big Bore in 444 Marlin. I don't want rebounding hammers or a safety or AE. Does this rifle exist without all the do-dads? If not would a 375 Win Big Bore re-barreled to 444 function or feed cartridges without action work?

Re: Poll for 1895 fans --- 30-06 or .405 ?
If only choice is between the two I'd go 30-06. If your wanting a powerful lever gun just stuff a few hulls with 220 grainers or 200 grain TSX. Mines getting the 338-06 treatment, 250 TSX will snort hard enough to span any gap between the two calibers and the lighter bullets will serve for everythin...

Receiver sight for 1895 Browning
I'm looking for some info on sights for a 1895 browning. I have seen the big lyman type but was wondering if there is a smaller, handier, type. I have seen some originals with a bolt mounted peep and this would be up my alley. It would add 10-12" to the radius.

Re: 375 JDJ vs 375/444 vs 375 Winchester
Not sure how far or expensive you want to get but Mic McPherson just built a very impressive Marlin along the lines you are looking for. Precision shooting Sept issue. It's a 35 cal on an improved 348 case 180 gr Speers at 2900, 220 gr Speers at 2675 and 250s at 2535 fps. You tell Mic what you want ...

Re: Model 71, 50-110
Thanks again JFE, that is exactly the kind of info I was hoping for. I am familiar with the through bolt design and I will use it. I also agree with your opinion of the 71 buttstock being awkward and tight and will carry out those mods as well a request the internal work. But the real Jem I believe ...

Re: 1886 Browning hammer
I forgot to mention one thing that may be of interest to 86 rebound owners. I took mine apart and reversed the piece of metal that is split into two fingers under the hammer. This makes it non rebounding BUT with hotter loads primers began to pierce. Now before you hurl the reckless hotrodder at me....

Thanks for the info guys, what is involved in lengthening the OAL and meplat size that can be cycled? My smith has done a few conversions before but info seems limited( I'm sure he's competent). I want to know more about the mag tube probs, I not against using full power loads and recoil will be sub...

Re: 1886 Browning hammer
Man that is a real SPROING! moment when that spring comes out of there but there's a little hole in the spring carrier? that you can get a finishing nail sized piece into. This will hold the spring in place and no Sproing! Just take the butstock off and play with the hammer and you will see the hole...

Re: Model 71, 50-110
I don't have an exact answer for velocity but I think around 1800 fps with 400gr? I can't find the Mic McPherson article in which he chambered 2 Marlins in 50 Kodiak Express. I think that was a 50-110 Starline case reformed with a miniature shoulder to prevent it being loaded in older 50-110s. I wil...

Model 71, 50-110
I'm having a Browning Model 71 converted to 50-110 this spring. Has anyone had any experience with this type of thing? I want to use 400-450gr hard lead and jacketed bullets. Any twist rate recommendations?(22"bbl). I've heard Z-Hat makes bbl bands for this type of hard recoiling, heavy mag tub...
