Thanks for all the advice.
I'm leaning towards getting it re-lined, but not threaded. I think the sights are too close to the bore axis to make it worthwhile, and I have several other guns that make dandy hosts.
Who are good options for the barrel work? Who else beyond Redman?

Advice on a Remington Model 4 .22
I've got a Remington Model 4 takedown marked .22 short or long - SN J276XXX. 22" barrel w/ takedown lever. It locks up nice and tight with no wiggle, but the bore resembles a sewer pipe. Still has most of the blueing, but lots of rust freckling. I've been thinking of getting the bore sleeved so...

Re: o/t Ruger or Brownings 22 pistols
Neither is a bad choice. I started with a Mk II, had a couple, and then bought a Buck Mark. I've sold all my Mk II's and have several BMs. That should tell you what I think...... IMHO the BM had a better trigger out of the box, and can be made even better by flipping over a spring - google 'heggis f...

Re: .45 Colt H&R Carbines for $229 at CDNN
I have a hard time getting by the strange way the stock meets the receiver on these rifles. I think the way the wood is hugely proud of the metal looks bad and feels even worse in the hand. <snip> Oly Yes, that's always bothered me as well. Has anyone had any luck reshaping them? Would that make th...

.45 Colt H&R Carbines for $229 at CDNN
Just a FYI, CDNN has the H&R 'Classic Carbine' in .45 Colt for $229 if anyone else is interested. Looks like a pretty good price to me, so I ordered one this morning....

OT - Shooting Gramp's Rem 141 (Needs trigger work?)
I finally got my act together, found some .30 Remington dies, and put some loads together. I took 20 rounds out this afternoon to test things out. All in all, not too bad. By all means minute of deer. The kicker, though, was the trigger. Holy moly was it heavy. Perhaps I've been spoiled by target tr...

Re: Glacier Park
Wow - great pics. I did a 3-week / 6,000-mile trip from Portland OR to MN and back, and got to see many of the parks between the two. I only spent 1 night in Glacier, but it tops the list of places I want to go back to, and spend much longer exploring.

Bayonet on a Marlin 444?
There's a thread about it over on AR15.com - seems interesting from a technical standpoint..

Re: Valuation of Browning 71 / Supplies?
It looks like I have a buyer for the M71, but he's only interested in some of the supplies. Now I need to figure out what the components are worth individually... Thoughts on what's fair? I don't intend to gouge, but I'm raising cash to replace my truck, so I'd like to find a price that's fair to bo...

Valuation of Browning 71 / Supplies?
It's with a heavy heart that I've decided to sell my Browning M71, but bills have to be paid. I'm not sure, however, what the going rate is for the rifle and the supplies. Any input on valuation would be appreciated - I'm not trying to get the maximum, but something fair for both sides. The rifle - ...

Re: OT-Anything the .32H&R Mag can do, that the .357 Mag can't?
About the only think I can think of is that the .32 can fit 6 rounds in a j-frame cylinder, vs. 5 rounds of .357
I still want a few more 32's, though.....

Price Check - NIB High Grade Browning 71
What's the going rate for a NIB High Grade Browning 71? A guy on one of my local boards is looking to trade / sell one, and I was wondering what a fair price would be.... http://forum.gon.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=214544&stc=1&d=1228533919 http://forum.gon.com/attachment.php?attachment...

Great old guns. This was my Grandfather's 141 in 30 Rem. I'm hoping to take it deer hunting one of these years. http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s131/bdaleray/Firearms/Rem141-1.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s131/bdaleray/Firearms/Rem141-2.jpg http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s131/bdaler...

Mere's mine: A 141 in 30 Remington - it was my grandfather's deer rifle. It's got a weaver 2-7x scope. I keep meaning to shoot it, but haven't had a chance to put together some ammo for it. I've also got a couple of boxes of old ammo (remington core-lokt kleenbore) with it - does the ammo have any c...
