I shot a 454 Casull revolver once. Just once. The shock wave gave me an instant headache. No kidding.

I was wearing ear protection muffs at the time.

Perhaps a carbine would be different but 460 is still a short range slayer.

My 94 Legacy also likes FEDERAL and Winchester ammo best. Performance is impressive, too. The moderate velocity but heavy 170 grain bullets produce consistant straight line penetration; bones and ribs don't alter its path.

In USA, I've never seen a hunter with an Enfield in hand. But I observed a couple guys in Saskatchewon with these rifles. Perhaps Canadian hunters have a link to Great Britian. Since the bolt face is designed for rimmed 303 cartridges, I've often wondered if a custom barrel for .348 could be fitted....

I remember clearly when the 170 was introduced by Savage. It was advertised for $99.95 and first two years were 30-30 only. The 35 was offered later. This is a cheaply made rifle. I doubt you'll be impressed by the rolled engraving on receiver or "hot die stamped" checkered hardwood stock....
