Re: OT: The movers come tomorrow
Good luck and travel safe. I well remember those days. We moved 14 times in 23 years in the Air Force. Never regretted it. My wife could take the house apart in a few days and put it back togeather again at the other end in the same time. If you are heading to Ft Wayne you will only be an hour south...

Growing up in Baltimore, MD I did not come from a family that owned guns or hunted. That Changed after I joined the Air Force in 68. Bought a Ruger 357 Blackhawk and a Remington 870 while at a remote site in Alaska. Won a Remington BDL in 30-06 while I was there too. That was the start of a lifelong...

Marlin 336LTS
Just got back from my business trip and as usual took a few spare minutes to check out some lever guns at one of the shops I was near. They had a lot of Winchester 94's, all in 30-30. Lots of Marlins also, 2 45-70's, several 336 30-30's, 3 444's and 3 35 Remingtons. What caught my eye first was the ...

JP_TX, Thanks for the reply. I dis-assembled the 444 and checked everything out. Looked okay other then needing some cleaning. Load up some Speer 270GR JSP bullets using 43.5 grains of IMR4198 w/CCI LR primers. It was raining so I did not fire for accuracy but only for function. Everything worked ju...

Marlin 444 AND Marlin 336 35 Rem
Well, it's been a great week. Was in Pennsylvania last weekend and found a nice 1980 model Marlin 336 in 35 Remington for $260. Needless to say, this came back to Michigan with me. Now today, went to Gander Mountain here in town and got my Marlin 444 off lay away. Both have been stripped down and cl...

Marlin 444 Bullets and Loads
Good evening Gentlemen, Since I now have a Marlin 444 on lay-a-way (which I hope to have home in just a few weeks) I am starting to accumulate some reloadings supplies for it. Bought 200 Remington cases and just bought 2 boxes (50 ea.) of Speer 270 GR GDSP bullets. Would like some suggestions on oth...

Hey Guys, A quick update. Was at my local Gander Mountain yesterday and they had a newer (CBS) Marlin 444 in pretty good shape on the rack. the price was not bad at $359.00. Asked if there was any wiggle room and got it for $319.99. It is now on lay away. Looks like I better get some reloading dies,...

I have to admit, it is a tough decision for me. I like the fact that the 35 Remington can be downloaded with pistol bullets for woodchucks and such but I also like the big boomers. I have a Marlin 336 in 30-30 and a Savage 99 in 300 Savage, (my first gun) but the 35 Remington just seems right. Sure ...

Marlin 444 or Marlin 336 35 Rem?
While out on business today I had the chance to stop and look at a few used guns. Found a very nice Marlin 444 (pre -safety, Micro-groove Barrel) in very good condition, $449.00. On the same rack was a Marlin 336 in 35 Remington, also in very good condition, pre-safety for $329.00. I would like to b...

I have been looking for a 38/357 levergun to go with my Accusport Bisley SBH in 357mag and stumbled on to this one today while picking up some reloading supplies. It is a Rossi saddlering carbine in 357 mag. No safety. The receiver blueing looks like a deep purple color. I have no experience with th...

Okay, so I am finding that used BLR's around these parts are about non existant. Stopped at one of my favorite gunshops on the way into town today and they had 2 Winchester 1895s in 30-06 which looked and felt nice but had no provisions for scope mounting. They also had a straight stock BLR. Felt ok...

Thanks for the replys so far. I am interested in the 30-06 BLR because I have 2 other 06 rifles. I'm trying to get rid of my odd caliber stuff and keep my long gun loading down to 223, 30-30, 30-06, 300 Savage, 45-70. Pistols have been pared down to 9mm, 38/357, 45 Colt.
