Re: .45 Colt Winchester 94 AE Trapper

Welcome to the board !

I used commercial CorBon high-performance JSP loads @ 1100fps quite successfully on deer in my .45 Rossi Model 92.

I would, however, recommend keeping lead boolit loads( w/o gas checks) under 1,000fps to avoid barrel/rifling leading.

The Parker I once had was a pristine ca.1937 Remington/Parker 16ga VHE Skeet Gun, 26" bbls with in/out chokes and several other options ( straight grip to a checkered butt, Miller single trigger, & beavertail FE - but no VR). Welcome to the board !

I took only one deer with the .357 Rossi Model 92 I had, but that occasion was a bang/flop - DRT @ 75ysd (+/-).

I was using commercial 158gr JSP ammo.

IME - any straight "pipe" or "tube", lined with fire-retardent insulation held in by a metallic mesh will act like the muffler on a vehicle does - BUT the RO must be vigilant about the insulation catching fire, anyway. FWIW

Before I converted my .32RF rolling block to CF, I hied myself to a gunshop that allowed me to try various cartridges in the .32RF chamber to see what cartridges I could use w/o a lot of extra work.

The .32S&W cartridge was larger in diameter & longer than the .32RF chamber.

All I know is that commercially available (Winchester makes a few runs each year) .32 Short Colt will work in the Marlin's chamber.

I used that ammo in a .32RF #4 Remington roller, whose firing pin I converted from RF to CF, w/o any other work.
