One week in the area doesn't leave much extra time, to say the least. I'll say - yer gonna need to take some speed, Paul..... ;) The round trip from RI to Niagara Falls & back, by itself, is a little over 1200 miles. I did it ONCE, on a Honda 250 Scrambler, a loooooong time ago...... :mrgreen: .

My .405 Miroku/Winchester Model 1895 was pretty smooth-operating out-of-the-box, Blaine.

Maybe you got a "Monday morning" or "Friday afternoon" gun...….. ;)

Work the snot out of it - it'll most likely gat a bit smoother.

Very nice ! AFAIK, Glenfields were all issued with Birch stocks, fore & aft. That's what I'm finding as well but this one is definitely not birch. A quick butt check (under the buttplate ;) ) should tell the tale, as to the wood species. (It may be Sycamore, like Savage once used on their Saddlegun...

I used them in a Norton 850 Commando, but had to re-jet the carbs to compensate for the freer flow - They (I had 2 - dual carbs) gave a nice jump in HP, too.
