I thought I was going to wait a while before I bought any more guns,,,,,,,but.....I found a great deal on a Winchester ‘86 EL carbine. New manufacture. It was used, but NIB and I got it for $865 OTD. Now I’ve always wanted a 45-70 and always thought about owning an EL carbine since I first saw one back in 2001 but I thought that I’d probably go with aMarlin just due to price. All I can say is, I haven’t shot it yet but I’m glad I ponied up for the Winchester. What a beautiful, sleek rifle. Pics coming soon.
Now to find a good peep sight....

.
That's a really good buy - CONGRATS ! ! .
I mounted an also new Marbles tang sight on mine, just using the tang screw to secure it, w/o D&T'ing for the tang sight base's forward mounting screw.
In 5 years of shooting/hunting it, the tang sight never moved, because of the interference fit between the concave shape of the tang sight base underside surface and the convex shape of the rifle's upper tang surface.
