Depends on the target, but heavier for anything bigger than a white tail 150+ gr. 30 Cal. Moose and brown bear .350 bonded or heavier Hard Cast in .45 Cal. I believe it does help on the big ones. This moose was at 130 yards hit with a 45-70 Grizzly Hard cast bear load and walked 10 yards before it ...

Yes, I have tried, while shooting from the back seat of a police cruiser on the interstate in 1978. Two rounds of .357 Mag from a 4-inch Colt revolver. One hit the hub cap that came off. And one hit the tire but did not deflate it. The driver had killed a PA Officer in Uniontown and had come into W...

I use 250 gr. of anything on critters, and nothing has complained yet. I had Steve put a Red dot mount on it when he worked it over, as most of my problems are after dark. There is a guy who makes a rail mount for the Rossis that works great if you have an older one.

The 243 has a pretty stout muzzle blast, but is a GREAT deer rifle. The 270 reaches farther and is a bit more pleasant to shoot. My first rifle was a 25-06 bolt gun. I just gave my wife a 270 Rem 700 to hunt with last year.

I agree with the 'shoot it and see' approach. But as it is a new firearm contact, customer service first, and see what they say. Then, if you don't like the groups, you can try the barrel break-in process or Fire Lapping.
