Yes, a model 336 in 30-30 or 35 Rem w/a 2/7 Leupold that I loan to kids when I take them deer hunting for the first time on my farm. They are required to pass a marksmanship test so they usually go through at least a box of ammo with the training. For a couple of friends, they get anything they ask...

What I would have considered the oddest was a Winchester 1873 in 44-40 an Afghan was carrying in Kabul in 2008. Keep in mind this is a photo of my hotel room on one job we did. The RPGs in the corner were ours also.

I have a Leica 1000 (at the house in AK) and just bought a Sig 2000 for under $300 on sale it works so well with the new scanning system was able to mark targets out to 2500 yards. Give it a try and look for the sale.

I like stainless after shooting a stainless barrel on my M-14 match rifle for a couple of years. The fact it corrodes slower from my touch than blue steel I have carried is a win also.

Back in the day (we had good vision), I won my first state rifle match with an M-1D (without the scope) from our sniper locker that still had 1903 Springfield Sniper systems in it for training.
My vision is not what it was then, and I now use optics on all my weapons except short range.
