THANKS GUYS!!!

trying to video your own shoots with a cellphone is just stupid...LOL It was the only good video I got all season. The others did not turn out at all.

Helping a land-owner, I shot 8 for the season, two with the 30-06 and six with the 44-40.

30-06
1 - 7 point at 22 yards
1 - doe at 200 yards

44-40

1 - button 30 yards
1 - button 40 yards
1 - doe 50 yards
1 - doe 100 yards
1 - doe 250 yards

The 250 yard kill was classic, first two shots landed short, aimed for 200 yards, both lined up, and aimed for 250 yards...boom. In the video you can see the dirt fly with the first two shots. The frisky doe wasn't so frisky after the third shot, she slowly walked just inside the tree line and stopped right there.

Landowner's son took down 40 with quota tags (different property), I took down 8 (110 acres, 18 acres of large tall pines) and they took down another 110 with depredation tags at yet another track of farm land. If I get to hunt there next year...I hope to invest in a nice camcorder.

Nice job Bryan.

I'm curious about the autopsy and terminal performance?

They vary pending where it's hit. I have had 240gr bullets at 1,250fps hit aft the upper shoulder at broadside...turn 90 degrees and travel down the spinal cord and lodge in the hind quarter...from 65 yards.
details here: https://sites.google.com/view/44winches ... authuser=0 I have had 215gr bullets pass right through double lung shots from 33 yards. Details here: https://sites.google.com/view/44winches ... authuser=0

Wounds also vary depending the cast hardness and bullet design. After some ballistics gel testing back in 2014, I decided that wheel weights was good enough for whitetail deer. Details here: https://sites.google.com/view/44winches ... /gel-tests
