Dad would never let us shoot them with a shotgun, unless we were bird hunting, and if he sat still and you were close enough, you head shot him. Head shot all our rabbits using 22's. Sometimes sa revolver on our hip.

I have shot quite a few deer with it. All under 50 yards, 180gr Fed hollow point.
I would bet the buffalo bore 180 would do the trick as well.

for cold weather I am wearing my M65 Army Field Jacket with zipper and external flap.
Zipper is pretty quiet, and don't care, generally not zipping and unzipping while hunting.
Seams to me it holds out the wind better than buttons.

On wing shooting jackets/coats, I prefer buttons, go figure.

I shot a lot of deer with a marlin 357. One never ran more than 40 yards, most dead on the spot, short distances all of them, 180grain Federal Hollow Point.

My dad has one. His favorite was the 39a, but there were two of us boys, so I used the Rem auto alot. Loved it, still do occasionally. Very fine sight, either dead on or complete miss, shot a ton of rabbits with it when I was young.

A marlin style (or angle/ side eject and optics mountable) rifle in 8mm , 348 or .358 caliber. SOmethng that can take upwards to 50+ pressures.

I have no experience with .35's except a 357 Marlin rifle. Shot many deer with it at close ranges, the 180gr federal bullet was very effective and performed flawlessly. I only use 45colt in revolver. pumps are far from my favorite, and don't own one. Look at the BPS Upland in 16ga also, for same reasons as the 20ga. Bottom fed, I like that, so is the Model 37. Go to Ballistic Products Inc website, they usually have #7 shot.
I use it quite a bit in all gauges, even late season, first barrel might have #7 in it.
Just a hair bigger than 7.5, but more pellets than #6.

I use it on pheasant, prairie chicken, quail, huns, chukars...

Its what I learned to shoot on. Heavy, long barrel, but puts even cheap .22 bullets inside a nickel at 30yards, with good ammo, can easily put them in a dime or less.

Can't speak of the newer models, but an older one is worth it.

I shoot both, don't matter to me, just something about pheasant and prairie chicken hunting with a sxs. I shoot doves with Parker 16ga sxs and Ruger Gold label sxs. Works real well. But so do all the various o/u's I have.

A good sxs might be harder to come by.

I have a Springfield Sub-compact in .40 S&W. It is a bit thinner in the grip (which is why I have it, small hands, short fingers) she should shoot it well.

I like the sound of the reviews. I like the brass frame and octagon barrel. Only problem with the Henry is they produce it in the wrong caliber. Bring it out in .32 special, or better yet, a 22 or 24" barrel 356!!! I am still wondering if I can get a gunsmith to fashion me up a Henry in 356win??

I carry rope(s) in my vehicles, hunting packs etc. Don't have a horse. Pretty handy here in 2013, guessing in the 1800's probably even more useful.

Tried 35030 (32) on quick load, could not get those numbers with several powders. Not sure what they are using. Still, from the software, I can get 2500 (and real close to that with several powders) from a 338 Marlin Express case necked up to 348 (220gr Barnes fp) That may get the job done, even out...

I hope they expand their sporting line as well, but have my doubts. Their direction seems to be in black guns, pistols. I would like to see the Red Label and Gold label come back. I would also like to see them make a foray into semi auto shotguns. In rifles, I would like to see a nice heavy bolt act...

If they get the peanut butter off ONCE, you are usually doomed.
Put the peanut butter not on the trigger, but somewhere just past it, mouse will set off the trigger trying to GET to the peanut butter.

a-5 much heavier, so I am guessing the lighter franchi kicks a little harder.

have a ruger o/u 28ga (that I am using to shoot in Cornhusker Games next Saturday) so I really have hard time justifying the need for the Franchi. But some day.

8x68s back from gunsmith, had him remove existing scope and mount a new one, new mounts, rings.

We shall see how the Weatherby shoots. If not well, we will be going to plan B for elk, which for now would likely be the Marlin 338 Express, or the 308 BLR.

Anyone have experience with RWS Bullets?? Particularly the "H" mantel and Evo bullets.
How do they perform? Long range, short range (high/low velocity) in bone, etc.
