This is what intrigues me about the Rooster Jacket tumble lube. It's supposed to be a wax emulsion and once the carrier dries, it ends up like the lube on modern .22 rimfires.Scott Tschirhart wrote: ↑Sun Jun 25, 2023 7:46 am Waxy lubes have been used on .22 rimfire ammunition for many years.

That's an unusual rifle he's testing ... an 1886 model in 30-30. And the sights are oddly configured ... the forward mounted rail with the rear sight on the front end of said rail. I'm not sure how well that would work. There's not much distance between the rear and front sights in that setup.

Oh, this must be the Wrangler from the other thread. Sorry, I'm a little slow. Great that she's enjoying it. I got my wife a Beretta 84F in .380 ACP to introduce her to guns. It was a bad choice on my part ... a .380 in a blowback action is a little harsh. She enjoys shooting my .22 revolvers though.

More likely he was being careful with the weak toggle link design of an 1873 than weak rifling. Probably. He made a point to talk about how shallow the rifling was ... I never quite got the need for that particular Winchester sight. I also wish he'd have tested at 1100 fps or so instead of 750 fps. I suppose he had to accommodate the weak rifling.
What I do love though, is the Sheard Triple-Leaf.
