Add in the fact that every time someone uses a credit card or takes out a loan, it also "creates" money that didn't exist before. It'll be the Weimar Republic all over again eventually. $1,000,000 stick of gum, anyone?

I'm going Saturday, but it's been open 2 weeks now. We do it different here in the desert, just jump shoot them off of stock tanks. A lot of driving but real easy hunting . I don't usually see mallards though, mostly smaller species like bufflehead. My partner did get a canvasback last year though.

We called them baked beans in Illinois when I was a kid too. Although the two names were pretty much interchangeable.

Re: How do YOU get Unique to meter best in a Lyman 55?
I set the measure using just the middle slider. I operate the handle briskly in both directions then flick the knocker up fairly hard. Once set the charge is usually within .1 or .2 grains max.

Thanks Griff. It looks like there's a lot of potential in it. It's drilled & tapped for a tang sight so I'll probably get one for it.

Thanks for the comments guys.
Pete, I'll probably get a second mold around 300 gr or so as well, should be fun to play with.
Grizz, sorry I don't have a hardness tester. These are made to be shipped though so I'd imagine they're fairly hard, as is the lube..

Range Report: Winchester/Miroku 1886 Short Rifle
Well today was the day I finally got to break in the new 45-70. Loads were in Winchester brass, CCI primers, 5744 for powder, and 405 RNFP lead boolits. I loaded 10 rounds each at 24.0, 24.5, 25.0, 25.5 and 26.0 grains. The boolits are by S&S Casting, bought from Brownells. The price on them was...

Re: An old friend resurrected
I haven't looked at the assembly directions but with the barrel loose, how do the sights stay vertical? Was it loose enough to make that noticeable? Glad you got it all figured out. Firearms are made to be used! Enjoy With mag tube and fore end on, the distance it could turn was pretty small. It co...

Many moons ago, I guess about 17 years or so I got into Cowboy shooting for a while. The rifle I bought at the time was a Navy Arms 1892 Short Rifle chambered in .45 Colt. It's a 20 inch full octagon barrel with the rifle type fore end. I'll attach a couple of pictures: 1892SR.jpg 1892SR-recvr.jpg I...

Re: Powder - What are your thoughts True Blue, Bullseye, Tit
I've never used True Blue so don't know anything about it. Bullseye is a classic and is useful in most handgun cartridges from .25 to .45. It's downside is its easy to fit a double or even triple charge in most cases. I used to use a lot of Titegroup and came up with some accurate loads in .38 spl a...

I have a Savage 1917 in .380. The 1917 is pretty much just a cosmetic makeover of the 1907. It's surprisingly accurate and like a lot of their ad copy states, points very naturally.

Thanks everyone.
I forgot to say I'd be using 405 gr lead. Going to buy some to get a quick start but a mold will be a near future purchase. As will a Williams FP sight.
My shooting budget has been pretty small the past couple years but hopefully things are getting better.

Howdy folks, I've got a few leverguns already, but a couple weeks ago I put a new Winchester/Miroku 1886 in .45-70 on lay awake. I should be able to get it out of quarantine in 2 or 3 more weeks. Then I'll need some dies etc (already picked up some Win brass) so I can start working on a load for it....
