Powder - What are your thoughts True Blue, Bullseye, Titegrp
I need to select a new powder to invest in for my 38 S&W. The Lyman handbook lists TrueBlue as the best powder. However, the powder is limited in it's use in 38 Spl and 357, according to the book. However Bullseye is good for all three. Tightgroup for 38 and 38 Spl.
So, what are your thoughts on the three powders and their uses on those calibers?

Can't say. All I use is LilGun, 2400 and Unique.. with a little TrailBoss thrown in for BPEq loads...

My thoughts? Use Bullseye with light loads for the 38 S&W...

I've never used True Blue so don't know anything about it. Bullseye is a classic and is useful in most handgun cartridges from .25 to .45. It's downside is its easy to fit a double or even triple charge in most cases. I used to use a lot of Titegroup and came up with some accurate loads in .38 spl and .45 Colt, but I got tired of the sooty cases and I've pretty much stopped using it.
For .38 S&W I'd pick Bullseye out of those three.

Way back in the late 70s I had a 38 S&W. I loaded it with Unique and a 148gr HB WC. The load data came from which ever Lyman manual I had back then.
Today I'd use Winchester 231.

Of those three, Bullseye.
Kind regards,

I have and load both Bullseye and Titegroup. Both are good in their use range. For general purpose in the S&W I would stay with Bullseye. I have no experience with True Blue.

Of those, I have only used Bullseye. But, for a broad spectrum, that WP "True Blue" looks very interesting.

Bullseye, Unique, 2400 and 4895 can load any sporting cartridge ever invented. In your case, Bullseye is preferred.----6

Sigh.... TightGroup is what they had so that is what I got...... No Bullseye in the state apparently...
Re: Powder - What are your thoughts True Blue, Bullseye, Tit
That's funny. Thought you could find Bullseye and '2400 on the shelves when everything else was gone.
Regardless I echo the preference for Bullseye, along with the warning about double charging. Some of the light .38 loads I do, I could triple charge and my Ruger GP100 wouldn't mind (although user would notice!) but you never can be too careful on the reloading bench. After running the Little Dandy powder measure over everything in the loading block, I swing the desk lamp over a bit and look down in *every* case to see if anything is awry. Even being careful I've caught myself a time or two.

There's pistol powders other than Bullseye and Unique?
Wow, I just learn something every day!
Goofyness aside, I'm also working on a .38 S&W load. Was going to start with 3 grains of Bullseye and work up from there.
Should replicate the ridiculously weak factory loads. I have a Police Positive and an Official Police in .38 S&W, both are in pretty good shape and mechanically excellent.
Looking forward to your results with the other powders.
