Re: Loading the Peacemaker, Colt’s Model P

A question for anyone who knows, any idea of the pressure of Linebaugh's 8 gr W231 load? Was looking at it over the weekend but couldn't find any pressure reference. It's over standard, just wondering how much. (Answered my own question on the 7.5 Titegroup load, it was in a Brian Pearce 2011 artic...

7.5 gr of TiteGroup has turned out to be quite good, particularly in my Redhawk with the 270 gr Rim Rock Keith bullet.

I can push it harder, but I don’t see why I should.

I was shooting 3 inch plates at 25 yards yesterday (harder than you think) and I think starting a range session with 100 rounds of .22 and shooting relatively less centerfire ammo might be a better way to go.

K22 Masterpiece. I bought this one last year. It is very much like the revolvers we used in the Houston Police Academy back in the early 1980s.

The grips are not original but they aren’t bad. It shoots as good as it looks.

New Year’s Resolution

I’m going to make a tough one this year.

No new guns. No used guns. No trading guns.

I have hubs that I have not even fully developed loads for.

So I am going to be content with what I have and not lust after something new or different. That means staying out of gun shops which is the hard part.

What we don’t address as much as we should the mindset of a fighter.

I agree that you are experiencing some unusually large groups. You may not even consider them to be “groups” at this point.

I have several of these guns and I have not seen any sort of problem making them shoot.

So I’m very interested in how you might make progress.

I’ve found that these guns need to be pushed a little harder than the load you quoted. But I haven’t needed to go outside of the .45 Colt loads that I also use in my SAA.

Try stepping up to 8-8.5 gr of Unique with a 255 gr bullet.
