I would choose the .45 Colt. They can be loaded up to surpass the 30-30, or can be dumbed down to an easy plinking load. The .45 Colt responds well to cast bullets, and is usually very accurate. When I had my Marlin Cowboy in .45 Colt, I loaded some loads using Cast Performance Bullets and some RE#7...

I have had many, many Ruger SBH's in .44 mag. I have had short barrels, 5 in, and long barrels, 10 and 1/2 inches, but my favorite still remains the original 7 and 1/2. Good sight radius, easy enough to pack, and always shoots just fine. That's what I would recommend!! Art

I use the Lee FCD on all my pistol cartridges. Have neve had a problem. I think you have forced the die to miss the col. Back off try a cartridge and bullet and then make your changes. A little at a time. Art

My last dog ROM, loved to likk skunks!! I think he did about nine, and we lived in the city. Every time it was in the shower, with tomato juice. It worked every time and he was an all white Golden retriever/husky mix! Still miss that dog!! Art

OT camo stock

Real nice looking camo job! I recently purchased a Mossberg ATR 100
with the camo stock. Put a camo sling on it and topped it with a Simmions 4X16 Boresighter Scope. It is in 30-06... I want to reach out there!! Art
