Re: New 1895 Guide Gun
I've read quite a few posts on different spots on the net talkin about how some of the new 95's shoot low. I had two, an older one and one that was brand new, got rid of the brand new one after a couple of trips to the range. It shot low, the stocks didn't fit right and the front sight fell out. My ...

Well Nate was bang on. Took the bubba'd 92 apart and sure enough the trigger was longer. Stuck it in the 86 and it works perfectly. Thanks again Nate.

Re: Original 1886 half cock
That's the thing, it's not. The half cock notch is better than the full cock one. I even found a picture of an original 86 hammer online to compare mine to and it looks the same. It sounds like you have had the hammer out. Did you take the trigger out to see how the nose fits in the 1/4 cock notch?...

Original 1886 half cock
I've got an original 1886 in 45-70. She was made about 1895. She is in great shape and shoots really well but the rifle won't go to half cock. I've taken it apart and the hammer looks fine, not worn, it stays in full cock no problem but it won't half cock. Anyone got any suggestions of what to check...

100 miles round trip so about two hours, longer if there is a blizzard or ice storm. Been doing it ten years and it's getting really old. I would seriously take a job for less money to be closer to home and not have to travel as much.

Hey just got a call from a buddy of mine who has apparantly picked up a 307 model 94 that has been cut down to a trapper configuration. that seems to me like it's going to be too loud and a huge muzzle blast and that it will take away from this great cartridge, what's your thoughts on it or has anyo...

I'm more of a straight grip guy but the pistol grips sometimes do seem a little more comfortable depending on the gun. I was playing around with a pair of marlin 1895s, one with a pistol grip one without and both felt good, although the straight looks good. They would both look better without the ch...

Jacko are dies for the 35/303 and 375/303 easy to get there? Even though we here in Canada have tons enfields you don't see much in the way of wildcatted ones. The 303 improved was fairly popular at one time. I'd like to do one of my old No1 Mk4's in a 22-303 or 6mm-303 for varmint hunting.

The rope thing isn't as strange as you think. Originally it was a short rope made from horsehair or had lots of horsehair braided into it that was used only to keep th snakes away while you slept as a snake won't crawl over the horsehair because of the smell of the horse.
