Re: "Crossfire Trail" Movie Question

I have Crossfire Trail on DVD and I think that it's a great movie. Selleck's '76 is a dream rifle of mine.... I always thought it was interesting that Bo Dorn rubbed the round alongside his nose right before he loaded the rifle when he shot the kid picking berries. It was a quirky little detail that...

I liked the 1876 Winchester musket that Selleck used in Crossfire Trail. He had a nice ivory gripped open topped Colt in that movie too.

I think it's great. I'd love to have it. People have always decorated their weapons and tools. Why do you think old flintlocks had tons of brass and silver and other geegaws on them? Poor guys would paint their guns for decoration. Eric Kettenberg used to have a great flintlock on his website that h...

I thought it was great. I'm not going to be hyper-critical about it because I enjoy the books so much. I thought Steve Zahn did a very good job following Duvall's interpretation of Gus's mannerisms and patterns of speech. However, I was more impressed with the young woman that played Clara. (I could...

But realistically, isn't it just a trademarked logo and name? Anyone can make a 94 as long as they don't put "Winchester" on it, right? I'm as big a sentimental sucker as anyone but the only thing that changes hands is the right to use the trademark. Real Winchesters went away a long time ...

Very, very nice! I have a D28 that I often torture my dogs with. They are very fond of "My Bucket's Got a Hole In It" and "Get Up John".

My girlfriend is from Nazareth, PA and we took a tour of the Martin factory a couple of years ago. That was awesome.

I had the same reaction at first but it beats hell out of a hole in the receiver and that @#$%& safety.

It looks good. You can't even tell that they're not supposed to be there.

It's the lesser of evils!

Update: I found an article online about using nylon plugs to close the holes in the receiver. I popped into the gargantuan mega-home store at lunch today and bought two Hillman 1/4" Nylon Hole Plugs in black.

They were $1.04 and fit PERFECTLY and look fine. No muss, no fuss.

That whole situation was just bad bad. It makes me so sad. There are predators out there and you just never know where they are. You can go for years and years and never encounter anything bad but when you do it comes out of nowhere. My girlfriend and I hike in National and State Parks up and down t...

Cross Bolt Safety

This has probably been asked before but when I search I can't sort out all the responses. The cross bolt safety on my 94 Trapper has backed out several times. I'm tired of looking for the itty bitty spring and I don't like the big ol' hole in the receiver if I leave it out. I've asked a couple of lo...

A 10-22 was the first new gun I ever had, bought lo those many years ago on my 18th birthday. It cost 89 bucks! It was beautiful to me!

It accounted for literally hundreds of squirrels and rabbits. What more could anyone want?

If beauty is utility, the 10-22 is gorgeous.

The ones with personality are named but the others haven't been named yet. My Trapper 45 Colt is Philadelphia (after Shirley Temple's character in "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon"). My Savage-Stephens 12 gauge with 18 inch barrels is Mean Elizabeth. My Series 70 Commander is Ol' Bucketmouth. All...

Those CBCs are in strong demand. You could sell it to a grateful soul for enough to buy a .357 Cowboy with some left over for powder and lead.

I've seen several lately in shootable condition but my main concern is whether you can mount a Lyman receiver sight those Big Bore Model 94s. There is a distinct shoulder there that's different that the standard 94.

Does anyone have a receiver sight on one of these rifles?
