Re: Not to Intrude on AJMD429's Post
We were fortunate to have taken some 82 trips in the 17 years since I started my new career, "A Gentleman at Leisure". Most of those were out of the country and included 6 continents as we’ve not been to Antarctica . . . yet. Our first trip after the start of my new “career” was to Canada ...

Not to Intrude on AJMD429's Post
My wife and I love to travel and since retiring 17 yrs ago, we've been to 81 countries. We saved and worked our whole lives to travel as much as we could. So when AJMD posted, it reminded me of a discussion the wife and I had earlier this year when trying to decide where to go this year. We finally ...

I've got a 1949 Savage 99 in 300 Savage that's a great shooter. I got it to round out my collection of leverguns and don't shoot it much as I prefer my Winchester 88 in .308 better. But both are fine examples of the state of the art.

Hodgdon will hardly be a monopoly in the reloading business. They are the largest powder supplier, but other than gunpowder they didn't sell anything else reloading related. And RCBS has lots of competition already, so they also aren't a monopoly. I think this marriage wont affect any of us the wro...

Re: Favorite.45 Colt bullet to be used interchangeably
In 255grn bullets, I prefer the X-treme 255grn FP plated as it feeds in both my SAA and both my leverguns smooth as silk and doesn't lead up the barrels whereas the 255grn Keith style lead isn't as smooth feeding in my leverguns and being plain lead, I have to deal with lead deposits. That said, I g...

In .357mag leverguns, my "high power" load is a Zero 158grn JSP bullet over 18.0 grns (Max) of Lil'Gun powder. It produces higher velocities at much lower peak pressures than H110 which was my previous load. The velocities were recorded at the same range, with the same temps, same rifles, ...

I set up a Henry H001 .22 lr with a Lyman rear sight to give me a chance at 300 yards and found the results interesting. The M48 was the Patton? Yes, the M48 Patton tank was a replacement for the M47 Patton tank. It had the same basic armament; a 30 cal co-axial MG, a M-2 50 cal TC MG and a 90 mm main gun. The M60 never was officially named like the Patton was as it was considered an improvement on the M48 design. Be...

I'm all about Armor and Main Battle Tanks. But they were certainly NOT on a budget! At approximately 4 gallons of diesel to the mile, they sucked up a lot of fuel. Further, the 30 cal coax MG and 50 cal TC's MG spit out dollars every time you pulled the trigger. Then the main gun ate hundreds of dol...

I've also found that they clean up much easier than brass and as the nickel plating is smoother, they slide into the resizer easier than my brass ones.
In addition, I use nickel brass to separate my lighter SA pistol loads from my levergun loads of the same caliber.
