I made my own snap.caps 😅
I needed some 45 colt snap caps but no where local had them in stock so I made my own. I used some old 45 colt brass with loose primer pockets that I had planned to discard. I seated the projectiles as normal and then filled the primer pocket with a binary casting resin that dries to a soft, flexibl...

I shot this doe last year at 524 (+/-) yards with a 20" 308 (Zermatt Origin) using the 195 grain sierra matchking moving at 2750fps. She dropped.in her tracks and then slid down the hill, stone dead. The report.was so far away, the other doe herd never even stood up from where they were bedded.

Re: Christmas in Appalachia 1964
Heck, I grew up dirt poor. I went many nights without food, except what was provided at school. However, a neighbor taught me to shoe and ride horses, no one in our house ever went hungry again. I worked full-time after school riding and shoeing, using loaned equipment until I could buy my own. I sw...

Re: 357 Max lever gun
It would be easier to get someone (starline?) to make tougher 357 mag brass (maybe binary case) and load up. I have been pushing the 140 grain xtp's to 2300fps in a 20" barrel using Lil Gun. It has more energy than 300blk/5.56 until you pass 100 yards

Re: .308s in my life.
I love 308. Its my primary rifle caliber for most things.
I am using a Zermatt TL3 with 23" PVA barrel for all my long range shooting. My working load is a 200gr accubond at 2804fps (yes you read that correctly) with Alpha SRP brass. It will shoot 1/2 MOA all day long

Oh and no pressure signs on the brass (new starline). Primers are still well rounded with no cratering. On average the brass stretched .013".

I pushed them a little harder today and the juice WAS worth the squeeze. It made it to 1940fps, SD was 4!!! yes 4!!! Accuracy was 1.25" (3 shot group at 100 yards with a 3moa red dot). The recoil is stout, on par with my non-muzzle braked 300wm. I tested 12 loads and by the end I was glad it wa...

Re: An interesting offering from Uberti
Uberti says it has 6 of the 6-40 screws holding it on. I had all my 92's drilled and tapped for pic rails so its not a big deal to me. My only concern will be how thick a pad to make so I can get a cheek weld.and still see the optic. I will remove it for our cmsa events

Now I am not recommending it but I have about 3000 rounds of spicey 45 colt through mine. My loads are between "ruger only" and 454 casull....zero issues. In fact the rifle is considerably more accurate with these loads than standard pressure. I am using 454 casull brass that has been trim...

This is a 45 colt 1873 BUT with the caveat that it can handle "44mag pressure loads". And, pre-fit with a pic rail.
