I made my own snap.caps 😅

Post by wvfarrier »

I needed some 45 colt snap caps but no where local had them in stock so I made my own. I used some old 45 colt brass with loose primer pockets that I had planned to discard. I seated the projectiles as normal and then filled the primer pocket with a binary casting resin that dries to a soft, flexible material. They have red dye in them as well. It worked really well! The wife has already dry fired about 65 times and they are holding up to it. We will see how long they last.

I have used hot melt glue, but a softer material like you used is better for dry fire practice.

Cool! 8)

Can you share the specific resin you use? I have several calibers I'd like to make snap caps for! :D
