Re: thoughts on the 375 BB winchester?
I have one. It is everything you could want in a lightweight carbine. Mine holds 2.5 inches from the sitting position at 100 meters with a Williams FP and is powerful enough for anything in North America. I like it because it is light weight, carries easy, is accurate and powerful.

Re: Why bother with the 45-70?
You know 86er, you are right!!! as a matter of fact I am going to by a 375 Remington Ultra Mag and use it for everything in North America, Powerful and Flat shooting! I can use the wood stocks of my leverguns as firewood this winter, that's all they are good for anyways! LOL

Re: What are you going to deer hunt with?
I am happy to return after a long absence. This is a great topic to start again on! I am going to hunt in Missouri with my W-94BB 375 Winchester with William FP. I will carry my Ruger .357 blackhawk flattop (anniversary edition) on my hip. I keep my M-70 (pre-64) 30-06 with Leupold Vari-X III 2.5-8 ...

Re: OT - Afghan Experiment
I guess the M4 and the M9 have the most votes! Given a choice; I would have carried the M4 and my .45 Auto. Combat Commander. If I was by myself; I would have carried an AKM and a FN Hi-power under cover to fit in.

Re: Alaska Experiment . What would you take for...
Four; that is quite a choice: Like everyone else: a 45-70 with heavy loads, sticking with what I own: an 1895 with Ghost Ring Sights. My Remington 870 12 GA 28" Barrel for fowl of any kind. I would purchase a 18" Cyl barrel for backup when not hunting. My Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 Mag My Da...

I used to eat it as a kid, then layed off for many years until I was stationed in Japan. The Japanese were given SPAM after the War due to food shortages and my Obasan remembers it as the only meat they ate for awhile and on Okinawa it is still kind of a staple meat. I eat it somewhat regularly agai...

Actually, In America, the courts have determined multiple times that the Police do NOT owe us a duty as individuals to protect us. Their Duty is to Society and I agree with the court rulings. That is why we should be able to protect ourselves, try getting a leftest to agree with that! But, that is n...

Keep up the fire boys! Of course the only real reason for the lead ban is to get in one more regulation to make it hard on hunters but we are stuck with it until we better organize. In the meantime, we can use technology to overcome these regulation and comply with the law. The work you are doing is...

I have both but prefer the Mauser Style. Just one thing less to go wrong. That being said, before I reverted the the lever gun for most of my shooting I carried a M700 Mountain Rifle .280 Remington for years and NEVER had a problem. Still, of my 4 favorite bolt rifles, 3 are Mauser Style Actions (1 ...
