Batman1939 has it right....13 lined ground squirrels....when I was still working the tank yard was infested with them....they riddled the tank dikes really bad....it became part of my duty to shoot them with my scoped air rifle...since it was not a firearm and used .17 soft lead pellets the company ...

Hello and welcome from another Hoosier. .22's are the best way to start no matter what kind it is. You get to shoot hundreds of rounds for little cost and not much noise, and they're just plain good fun.

I second Shooter's recommendation of COURAGEOUS. Went last Saturday night with our church group. It's a must see, if you have kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews or if you are involved with kids in anyway from toddlers thru adult. It is a must see.

Triggernosis..........................I carry my M34 in a Bianchi #5BHL for small revolver. Rides high and tight, with a slight forward cant. Easily covered by long shirt tail or jacket if need be. Excellent fit and has safety strap with thumb break.

Find yourself a small piece of rubber 1/4 inch or so thick, and a small piece of aluminum (pop can). Put the rubber first then the aluminum directly over the hole the use a hose clamp and tighten down firmly. This is a basic temporary fix we used on active pipelines that were under pressure.

I misunderstood, I thought it was unlocking with .444. That is a mystery. Still I would look at the locking bolt and spring, or the locking shelf on the frame. It's been many years since I messed with Contenders, but here's a maybe. Since the barrel was originally a .44 mag the spring for the locking bolt may not be strong enough, now this is just a maybe, but perhaps a spring for the 45/70 Contender may work, or a spring for one of the other hard recoilin...

Not very mobile, but I stacked up old railroad ties here at my place. They're about 6 feet high and 3 ties deep, after 22 yrs they're getting to the point of needing to be replaced, but there are tons of them avail from property owners who have the abandon RR right of ways on their property.

Yes, I remember those loads too. As stated above 9 grs, Unique and the 250 gr. Kieth bullet, that's the load I use most and will do for anything I'm going to shoot at.

I recall reading a story, I think in American Rifleman, about U.S.Govt. use of 94's. They were issued to guards at bases and other such places, so the battle rifles could be issued to fighting men. They used them along with shotguns and the Riesing submachine guns instead of the M1's.
