Not to mention spending $150.00 at the gun show yesterday on brass, bullets, powder, dies, a benchrest, primers, and a set of grips. Dang... Good idea though... But Scott, you need the pilot....

While Trail Boss filled the cases nicely and cleanup was a snap, rounds just weren't fun to shoot: kinda anemic to shoot, no boom, no smoke, etc., compared to the Army carbine load of 405gn w/55gn BP. Tom, not to hijack Kirk's post, but did you actually "fill" the .45-70 case with Trail B...

Just my ever-so humble opinion, but I'd have to believe that anything done by hand would be (a) better and (b) considerably more expensive!

There are several great gunsmiths here on the forum. I am sure one of them will be able to give you more details and some pictures showing the difference! :D

Hobie - All the good dealers must be only going to the Virginia shows because the C&E ones here have gone downhill hard and fast since they switched locations from the Metrolina Marketplace to the Merchandise Mart... :cry: Glad to hear that the C&E shows are attracted good vendors elsewhere....

The shows here near Charlotte never seem to have a lot of lever-actions. :cry: In fact, the couple regular shows are starting to go down hill a bit. Not enough "old" guns, not enough reloading supplies, too much plastic and non-gun related junk... :?

Marlin's customer service is top notch. Let's remember they specifically target (pun intended) affordable guns for their consumers. Some quality issues are going to arise occasionally, but when they do, Marlin makes it right every time. I wish more companies would stand behind their products as well...

Not sure in an 1873 clone, but in my Marlin 1894 I had a full-wadcutter .38 jam up the action for a good hour while I tried to fix it. I'd stay away from the full wadcutters, but almost anything else should feed reliably. Not saying they'd be accurate, but feed... :wink:
