Thanks guys! Joe, I do have an old flat-top that has pretty much gone all plum in the frame. Maybe I should post a few pictures of it over at the Ruger site to drive them wild?!? No. You should send it to me! Now Steve, we both know you would get in WAY TOO MUCH TROUBLE with a little one on ...

Ha... Hobie, you're a man after my own heart, but I did just order a priming tool and a primer pocket tool. Not to mention spending $150.00 at the gun show yesterday on brass, bullets, powder, dies, a benchrest, primers, and a set of grips. Dang... Good idea though... But Scott, you need the pilot....

Thanks guys! I was having fits a few months ago thinking that a couple of my guns were starting to rust, and couldn't figure out why, given how well protected they are. Then I realized that I could only see that plum color in certain light (really strong light, like the one shining into my safe). Ys...

Plum color
After this exchange on another topic, I thought I'd post this as it's own thread. http://sixshootercommunity.com/leverguns/viewtopic.php?t=730 What causes some metal used in guns to go "plum" in color? I have seen this a lot on older Ruger handguns, but it appears this is also the case wit...

Chuck100 yard, I have a 1873 rifle in 38-40 made in 1891. It is a 85% gun. It shoots great, but I wanted a SRC to go with my old SAAs. Ysabel Kid. The gun belt is a Cartridge scout belt Made by W.H. Clay of Brownsville, Texas (circa 1915). It hung in the Ranger Museum at Waco, Texas for years. It w...

I bet if you took really fine BP and dumped it onto a spark it might ignite (explode). Just figuring this is similiar to an organic powder dust explosion (like what happens in grain storage silos). I happen to sell a cellulose-based powder for the company I work for. You could do the same thing - &q...

Marlin's customer service is top notch. Let's remember they specifically target (pun intended) affordable guns for their consumers. Some quality issues are going to arise occasionally, but when they do, Marlin makes it right every time. I wish more companies would stand behind their products as well...
