Re: Alliant ceases production of powders
This site and a few others suggest the US has been a net importer of weapons grade nitrocellulose for some time. China and Russia were two of these suppliers and both have cut off shipments to the US to better supply Russia's war. Let's face it. This country has allowed its industrial base to decay...

Re: 1886 Pressure Signs
How many CUP is new 1886 good for? Well, originals were likely of steel not as good as Miroku will be using today. They handled the 33 WCF and 348 just fine. The European standards call for pressure limits in the mid 40s true, call it about 40,000 CUP. The Pedersoli '86s are available in 444 Marlin...

Re: Gorgeous lever gun, but why?
I don't see anything "Classic" about an '86 in 30-30 with a side mount scope! I can understand wanting to offer a lighter recoiling rifle in a common cartridge such as the 30 WCF, but Pedersoli makes a straight stock '86, so why didn't they pattern their "Classic" after the 33 WC...

The No.5 had a few differences with the smokeless military jobs, which are often mislabeled a "No.5". The hammer (and I think the trigger guard) is finer of line, and of course the stocks are, too. I actually like the contrast of a slender, smokeless barrel to the archaic action. We, uh, a...

One quick visual clue it's not a Remlin is the contour of the trigger guard. It's gracefully shaped, thicker closer to the hinge and tapering down towards lever. Remlins were thickest in the middle and look weird. Ruglin copied the Remlin. Blech.

Is the Rossi 92 Action strong enough for 38/44 loads. Yes, of course. Pressures in the 38/44 appear to have been no more than modern 357 pressure levels, in the low to mid 30s. There still exist 357 data (CUP) in the 40s. Sharpe's book from the era lists 38/44 level loads at only 21,000, but I thin...
