Great report, Kirk, and great shooting with that stunning old 1876 Winchester. My Ubert 1876 is 120 years newer than your original, but I doubt it could shoot any better than that!

Testing Handloads- How Many Rounds Is Enough?
I was just wondering, how many rounds do you other handloaders fire to determine whether or not any given load is a keeper? How much testing do you do before you write a load off? As for me, I shoot strictly handloads with handcast bullets (except of course for .22 LR). When trying a new load or a n...

Our local muzzleloading rifle club just gets together several guys who need powder, then order it by the case and divy it up when it arrives. The hazmat fee and shipping cost is averaged in. Last time cost was under $15 lb.

I have a couple of the Japanese Winchesters, and they exhibit exceptional fit and finish. The only real drawback of these rifles is their tang safety-rebounding hammer system. It makes for a very heavy trigger pull, and can result in an occasional failure to fire. I have modified mine to eliminate t...

Being a newly-manufactured rifle, the smartest thing would be to send it back for repair, but if you're like me it's easier to just fix it yourself. A shop here has one new-in-box, and they are asking $1,250. If I remember correctly I paid around $725 for mine when they first came out back in the nineties, so if you can get one for $750 now days that's a good deal on a great little rifle.

If and when I see reloading components become readily available and reasonably priced, I will invest in a .50-95.
For the time being, I am really enjoying my .45-60. It's very easy to make brass from .45-70, and I'm casting my own bullets, so this one is fairly cheap to shoot.
