Nasty marlin

I had heard on this site that Marlin quality control was bad but I finally got to see it first hand. A friend of mine won a raffle and his prize was a new in the box 336 in 30/30. Well as the fall crept on last week he decided to take it out and shoot it and get ready for deer season. He fired two s...

For what it is worth; I have one of each and wouldn't trade them for anything. Niether would I trade one for another of the other!! As an aside to this I have seen them in the Gun digest and Shotgun News in the box with both cylinders for ALOT less than 950!! And from what I have seen in this area w...

Re: Concealed carry violates company policy

Yeah the company I work for is a multi million dollar corporation and keep cash in large amounts. We are not allowed to carry even though we have been trained and have carry permits. To make matters worse they post signs stating that guns are forbidden so everyone knows we are unarmed. We also stay ...

Re: OT- I guess I'm just a kid

We just got back into horse' after a long time living in town. I have found out, sadly, that a whole lot of the "nice brood mares" we see advertised in the local papers and on the Craigslist are better suited for coyote bait or dog food than they are to riding stock. After looking over som...

Re: OT: One rifle & One pistol for all around use.

If push came to shove and I figured I had to live the nomadic life always in the "shadow" I would go with the marlin 45/70 and a m-19 in 357. Of course I would also make sure to carry a hand tool and a bullet mold for both that I could use unsized ( as it came from the mold) powder of cour...

I couldn't pass this one up! Savage 99 TD in .300 savage with the extra 410 Barrel. He were are dreaming right? If not that then my uncles old 25/35 rifle with a good reciever site. He could clock things way out there with his. I do believe that when Grampa was herding sheep he carried a sixgun with...

My favorite pistol is with out a dougt my old 4 inch S&W m-19. When life is on the line this would be the first thing I picked up. And though I do not walk in the shadow much any more; when I do you can bet this one is with me. Even though now days I carry the sp101 357 my nephew gave me as a da...

Re: OT- Louis L'amour books

I have never met a L'amour book I didn't like!! I had about 50 when our homestead burnt down. They are getting harder to come by in excellent shape. I think this is because people can't keep from re-reading them; sort of like visiting an old friend! very good reading even the second and third time.

Well guys, in my thoughts a 788 rem. would be a better choice than the savage 340 platform. Yes the 340 will handle the pressure when new, however, around these parts a like new 340 will run you about 300 bucks. And since they are a favorite "kids" gun around here they don't last long! Occ...

How do they shoot silver tips? Or the hornady hollow points for that matter? Course at that price they would still be worth it if they only functioned with FMJ. Probly make a great plinker/trail gun! I wish we could get an H&R like the cowboy 45 rifle in the old time calibers. It meets the criteria as far as style and makes major points for the cool factor! I would like to see the 256 mag. included as well as the possibility of the 30/357 round.
