Re: Waxing Guns

I've used Johnson's Paste Wax for long term storage as well as a couple of SAAs that get get handled more than shot. Works great. No fingerprints and it shines bright. Eezox on the inside, Johnson's on the outside. No hint of rust. Five or six bucks for a thirty years supply.

Small imprint on Winchester '94

Just curious. It's a small imprint ( a logo-like P over a W inside an oval ) located on the forward top of the receiver with a matching one nearby on the top of the barrel. This is on a '56 in .30-.30. I just never noticed them before and they're quite small. Heck, for all I know all '94s may have t...

Cardboard fans in church.

"Yes, sir" and "Yes, ma'm" to grownups.

Taking your hat off indoors or meeting a lady.

Using your left arm as a turn signal.

Re: For you older guys....

Mine were: 1) a Colt 1911 and 2) two Colt SAAs, one a .45 and the other in .44-40. I could justify the 1911 as serving a serious purpose but those 6-shooters are just for fun. And they truly are fun.

Re: Colt single actions....

I have a couple 3rd generations but no pix. (I know, a lotta good THAT does.)

A .45 and a 44-40. The 44wcf gets the most work. Love'em both.

Re: CCW permit

It is a freedom. I would urge everyone to exercise it. Getting your permit you will probably be encouraged to carry at all times. The saying applies: If you're going someplace you think you might need a gun ... don't go. There's wisdom there. You don't get to pick the time or place. You adversary wi...

Re: Which one do you like in a semiauto pistol

I'm pretty satisfied with my choices: Colt 1911, 45acp (my workhorse); Kimber commander sized 1911, 45acp (carry); KelTec .380 ( pocket carry ); Springfield XD, 9mm ( for my wife if I'm away).

However, if I lived on the border we'd be talking high caps all the way.

There's nothing like the sound of a radial engine coughing, sputtering and coming to life. Man, that is power.

I've been outside in -50 degree conditions in Alaska. But I've NEVER felt as miserably cold as rabbit hunting outside Arkansas City at 0 degrees and the wind howling in at around 30 mph.

Re: Heading for New Mexico tomorrow - Mule Deer hunting

My wife and I just got back from New Mexico. I can't speak on the conditions around Portales but I saw the type of scrub oak deer country you're talking about, some of it so thick you couldn't even hunt it without really getting torn up. We saw a lot of deer in the mornings around farm ponds and, wh...

Mich hunter--

Thanks. That's probably a pretty good call and it never even crossed my mind. This guy must've gotten A+'s in penmanship. It's really a clean job.

Win Model 94 - 2nd serial #

Gentlemen, I have a Winchester '94 in 30-30 produced in '58. On the receiver, below the serial number, is a hand etched 2nd serial number, AK 09XXXXX. Any ideas what this means? The rifle has obviously spent the better of its life in a gun cabinet, shot very little. The hand etching is very precise....

I have mine and glad I do. In Tennessee it's a Handgun Carry Permit so theoretically you can open carry. Lotsa luck with that in Nashville. Supposedly the law was written that way so folks who inadvertently flashed their sidearm wouldn't be prosecuted. And I'm not admitting on the internet any inten...
