I've seen this before just recently. As far as I can tell, it's the real deal. They are a legitimate training company, and are trying to recruit people to their classes. Seems like a great deal if you're going to take training anyway. I get a number of their articles e-mailed to me, and have receive...

PRICE CHECK -- 1st year 1894!!
I'm starting this thread for Rjohns94. He's found a three-digit (5xx) serial 1894 in .38-55. It is 26" octagon barrel, crescent butt, buckhorn rear sight, bead front, full mag, 60% bluing intact, excellent bore, some light pitting, dings on the stock and external to the barrel. What do you thin...

My understanding is that you can use your state resident CHP/CCW and a copy of the training certificate to get a Florida non-resident permit (total cost between $100-150 for application). However, for Utah, you must take a Utah certified course (check their web site for certified instructors), which...

Favorite gun quotes (long)
After seeing ScottT's thread, and the question on whether Steinbeck actually said those quotes attributed to him, and reading people's signature lines for a few years, I thought this might be a worthwhile thread. Here are some gun quotes I've put together. I've tried to stay away from just political...

I must admit that I'm really surprised by the reaction, and intolerance, of many of the postings. -- There's a difference between science (and the scientific method) and religion (and belief) -- Many scientists also believe in God -- they are not all, or even mostly, atheists. I had heard that Texas, alone, reserved the right to secede from the US, but that seems to be in error, as described here: http://www.texassecede.com/faq.asp There was also some talk there about the ability to divide into multiple states, maybe with some benefits for Texas (like more Senators). But,...

I have to agree with Malamute...I don't believe that in civilian situations, a pistol is only for fighting to your rifle. As in the robbery/shooting scenario, most likely it will occur in a small enclosed space -- not out in the open. A rifle wouldn't be practical to deploy in tight quarters -- you'...

Earliest gun memory and/or picture
I seem to remember a thread on the old forum that talked about our earliest gun memories, or when we first got introduced to guns. Having just gotten into CAS, I had to chuckle when I recalled mine. I believe I'm about 2 1/2 here, Christmas 1956: http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e99/alnitak2/cowboy...

I've been using the hand press for a couple of years now, and wondered if I was getting any dust in the sizing die, and if it would make any difference if I did. Certainly, one could plan to have several around and visible that one could turn in, especially most of the more recent, registered purchases from dealers. After seeing Grizz's post on leverguns and sub-flooring, and some of the responses, my thinking got around to a subject I've pondered before: Assume that at some point in the future, all guns are outlawed (don't laugh; I suspect it will happen within 25 years).
