OT - Other Gun Forums ??

Post by cshold »

First let me say by far this is my most favorite / visited
forum of all time. (you guys are a great group to hang with :D )

But just out of curiosity, what are some of your other favorite
gun related forums that you like to hang your hats, and pull
up a stump :?:

Here are mine: (not in any order of preference)

This forum is without doubt the best.

I also belong to rimfire central and the 16GA society. All three have something to offer in there different fields but leverguns definately has the best humor and more varied topics from a great bunch of guys who also know a thing or two about Leverguns!

I signed up for one other forum at the same time I signed up on the old forum for leverguns. Was looking for information on the .45-60 WCF load for the Chaparral 1876 I had just purchased. Kirk provided some great information, and everyone here was so nice, I just stayed. So it's all your fault I'm here!!!

I don't visit any other sites - just don't have the time... :(

I have been known to visit the Shiloh board, rimfire central, varmint hunters, the high road, and firing line - but probably like most - I spend the most time here....

I also visit the SASS (CAS topics and classified), Defensive Carry (Tactical situations and concealed carry issues), Glock (User groups and classifieds), Ruger (SAA revolver and classifieds), and PistolSmith forums, various reload forums, several other forums (only for the classifieds, e.g., AR-15, SD, S&W, Beretta), and a couple gun model specific forums (e.g., CZ-75, Walther).

This one is by far the best.

The Winchester Collector's forum has a forum for shooting and reloading old Winchesters which I haunt. It's focus is strictly shooting Winchesters, mostly old ones.

I also visit MarlinOwners, PredatorMasters and Glock Talk. Once in a great while I drop in on Graybeards, but they don't seem to get much traffic. This site is by far my favorite.

How does one even find time to visit other forums? I am lucky to be a 35 year Teamster and have my own warehouse and computer with no stinkin boss's to answer to. Then late at night before hittin' the sack, I may have an hour to play here. Other than that, my day is full.

I was a regular on Sixgunner.com for about 10 years and have since become to realize that there is a greater potential here. I put all my eggs in one basket and call leverguns my second home. (well, fourth home--after the gunclub and Targetmaster) If your looking for something, its here--no need to cat elsewhere---------Sixgun

Ruger and Marlin have a lot of good specific info but not the general discussion that goes on here because of the open format.

I think I've registered at something like 150 forums (often to reserve my name) and visit most at least once a month. I also moderate at American Long Rifles but there are several moderators there and there's less to do. It seems that I come here, then the Gord board, then Colt forums, then the S&W forum, then the Single Actions (since Sixgunner went TU). I visit some other forums regularly just to check for certain things which interest me.
Sincerely,

Hobie

Wow, never really looked at it this way, but here it goes (besides here):

Cast Boolits.com
Beartooth Bullets.com
Gunloads.com
Handloads.com
The Firing Line
Trapdoor Collector
Gunboard's Forums
Wehrmacht-Awards.com
Gk43 Forum
Winchester Collectors.org

These are my regulars, of course there are others too but visit so infrequent that I can not remember 'em all. Used to belong to The High Road but was asked to leave because I called certain types of guns a "little girly, girly if you ask me".

I'm jazman at Ruger Forum and Colt Forum also. Tuned into Ruger to learn about New Vaqueros (ordered one from Steve Young, get to pick it up at my FFL in 5 and a half days) and Colt because my favorite DA wheel gun is a Python.

THIS site is by far the one I visit most; combination of guns I happen to have a recent and likely enduring affection for, and a mindset of fellow forum members who are generally helpful, courteous, and understand the non-levergun-world far better than most other people.

I've found ammoguide.com useful for cartridge and load information.
WorldNetDaily.com for news (way better than any television news)
KeepAndBearArms.com for gun-related news (hosts our DSGL group!)

I also get the Mises newsletter daily and find it enlightening about politics and economy. http://www.mises.org/

I'm here every day.
Greybeards about once a week.
Castboolits every few weeks.
Aushunter every few weeks
and I used to visit Marlinowners every few days to have a look at the 1894 threads but haven't been back there since they died a couple weeks ago.
Other than that I only go to places if I'm following a link from one of my regulars or if I do a google for something specific.
