That support is something to consider. Looking back over it, I see the medium egg is 15". I think the sizes for Grill Dome are 18" and 13", another consideration..There is a comparison video on YouTube.

Well Six, a Big Green Egg, now you are talking, was going to get one, quite an investment. After much investigation I decided Grill Dome Infinity was better. But in the mean time I got a vortex for my 18" Weber and one of the side charcoal basket deals so the coals are on one side and the food on th...

Well crs, Jim Carmichael once said he would take a sizeable bet that he could take any game in North America with a 22 Hornet. You could go power mad and kick that up to a 25-20 or even a ... 32-20 and save recoil.

Hi Willie, I am using 6.0 grs of American Select for my light load with a 210 gr bullet. Have not chronographed it but it is likely in your desired range. I have liked this powder in other cartridges, burns very clean.

Grizz,, had one in . 45 Colt 30 years ago. Only time I shot it at 100 yds it was good for 3" from a sitting position with Winchester 225 Silvertips. I see it as a trade-off due to the disparity in velocity against the 357.

Joe, the first one I bought was a 1989 manufacture plain 20".30-30. It is a great rifle, accurate, very dependable. I shot it for a few years as it came, 1 1/2" - 2 1/2" groups. Then astigmatism set in and the groups got big. I put and old style Weaver 4x on it and found out it would shoot as small ...

My 89 manufacture AE is as good as any need to be in my opinion. With scope .75" with two loads at 100 yd. 600 rds through it, no problems. I have a pre 64 but it is not getting a scope and without that I certainly will not equal the accuracy of the other. Some people seem skewed to retain periods. ...

AJ I also thought there was a site that cut the same barrel down. I was mainly interested in what I would be giving up at 16". Finding a specific load for a specific rifle not in my interest. For instance, 24" barrel, why not just take my 35 Rem., 2200 from a 20 barrel. Essentially gives up the comp...

Re: Let's Have Elmer v. Jack Redux....

According Jack's writings he liked both the .270 and 30-06. Now if his brother in likely his old age got the 30-06 confused with the 9.3x62 that might make more sense. I think somebody got the story wrong along the way.

Re: Let's Have Elmer v. Jack Redux....

9.3x62 would have deficits to the 270 or 30-06 ballistically with no apparent advantages particularly for Western hunting. So, why would Jack make that choice? Frankly, I do not believe the story is true.

I am with 6. However, I have an 88 manufacture 30-06 that is great in everyday. In a correspondence with Ken Waters he said "don't ever let that go". For shooting purposes the push feed is a stronger action and at least this one will feed from any angle. For investment, not so much. :-)

Past 30 years at the range, similar target at 400 yds on a mountain. People shoot at it and hit it with everything out there. There was a little lady with a Model 70.308 shooting off a bench that would hit it until you were tired of watching. Bullet has to land somewhere.
