"Single shot" weapons have probably killed more deet at 150 yards or less than any other...IMO. Bows and muzzle loaders usually have extra seasons as well. I have killed more deer with my .50 cal front stuffer than with my .300 Win Mag or my .44 lever action. (No luck with my bow yet....ha...

Slugging a Barrel
I bought some 1/2 inch lead egg sinkers to slug the barrels of my .44 mag pistol and rifle. The reloading guru-guy who is going to help me said he wanted to slug the cylinder bores as well. Waste of time and effort or good idea?

For weather proofing "an old woods holster" or one that will experience "total immersion in water" (kayaking) I have read that dipping the entire holster in a bath of melted parafin will work. Have not done this. Just something I read. Not reccomended for quality leather. Thoughts?

fordwannabe, Thanks for the offer to send some bullets! I am familiar with slugging a barrel but I never thought about the compatibility problems between rifle and pistol. I will slub the barrels soon, before I start loading. Would you reccomend buying jacketed bullets to start?

From what I've read, "those dippers" are very accurate with certain powders. #2400 powder, from what I've read and been told by veteran handloaders, is very consistent.
