It's good to see I'm not the only one that thinks it's a good idea. Here's mine I made back in 2013. On Sunday, July 28, 2013, 10:49:17 PM to be exact.
I posted a thread on it at the time. Big Bore Project, or Scout Mount, I think I called it, not sure. No am not the least bit thinking of any patent battles or any such thing. I thought it was a good idea and that's why I posted it here, hoping someone with the skills could mass produce a (hopefully) better and lighter one.
Theirs is aircraft grade aluminum and mine was steel, and too soft of steel at that, but at least I proved my idea was possible. Due to recoil, mine shifted and didn't pan out. Also Pearsons, solved an issue I had and that was the long side piece interfered with the smooth feel of the side of the receiver.
I had actually put off converting my 375 to a 307 because the mount didn't work out and I still didn't want to D&T the receiver for a scope.
One other issue I was unable to resolve, was getting the front dovetail mount to securely lock the mount in place. Hope Pearsons fares better in that respect.
REALLY glad to see him offer it at a VERY reasonable price as well.
