Haven't done this in awhile!
Way back when I was a teenager, there was a Karate movie on one of the cable channels where the main character lost an arm and had to resort to doing his various deeds with a handgun. His instructor, or whatever you call them, offered a revolver and a 1911. He couldn't effectively load the revolver but with one hand he could insert a magazine and chamber a round with the 1911. He did this by gripping the slide and using his thumb to force the frame forward and load the pistol. Now, being 16 or so I had no idea that there were lightened springs and blank loads that weren't the standard weight. I practiced and practiced until I could work the slide back far enough with one hand to chamber a round. After some time I was able to do it with just about any autoloader.
Fast forward to post atrophied muscles and coordination. I've been able to do this again after a couple years of working at it. When I first got home I could barely lift a 1911 and was really depressed that I'd never be able to shoot one again. Pulling back the slide on a Gen 3 Glock was completely out of the question.
It's been a lot of hard work and set backs, but I'm close to being pretty well recovered. Well, to shorten up the story, I can do it again with my 1911s, as well as my G19. The 26 is a bit stiffer and will need to work on that one. Shooting and range time has been really good therapy for me. When I stated getting back out to the range I could barely walk to 500 yds to the benches from the parking lot. Now I can carry a couple long guns, range bag, spotting scope, targets and my ever present Ruger SBH. I rarely go anywhere without it now.
Had a good day the other day with the .45s, not really shooting for tiny little groups at 25 yds, but wanted to make some noise with the big guns.
I just needed to get that out. Sorry for the long story!

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

That target was with the Combat Elite, offhand at 25yds. The Gold Cup cuts those groups way down. If I'm doing my part, all in a 2-3" cluster.
This CE is 265 didgits less than the one I had. I'd had that one heavily customized to be a one ragged hole shooter. The National Match fills that slot so the CE gets to be my good old knock about .45ACP again.
It's all good!

Trying to load a video, but it's not working so far. I'll figure it out, I keep watching it, still not really believing I can do that again, but it's there.
But, too much is too much. Just dropped the Combat Elite on the floor. Fortunately it was a soft landing, gotta quit now.

Don't feel bad. I dropped a nice pistol on a concrete floor once and I have two good hands!2ndovc wrote: ↑Wed Aug 15, 2018 8:00 pm Trying to load a video, but it's not working so far. I'll figure it out, I keep watching it, still not really believing I can do that again, but it's there.

That's cool. It was a little weird. Not anything I would link to.
