When I get a chance to be home for a bit, I love taking one of my not-shot-in-awhile firearms back to the range, and just shooting a few shots at the gongs. ESPECIALLY since I got the Bobcat Steel ones that at 100 yards I can shoot with almost ANYTHING I have (FMJ 308, 30-06, 444 Marlin, 223 [steel-core ones make the slightest dimple so I don't use them]) without worry of damaging them.

Anyway, a ways back I got a HarBar for my Mini-14, and always wanted to sit down and do some serious range-time with it to see how accurate it really made my Mini-14.

I got, but didn't install, the optional laser-sight.

Well, this is a couple years now, and I just picked that firearm to go 'plink' with.
I shot six shots. First three at the 8" gong (standing, with forearm held by hand against upright post). Surprisingly (I'm not that good a shot) I hit it with all three...
So, what to do with the other three shots...? (I'd assumed I'd miss some or all of the shots, then use the next three on the 12" gong, like usually happens...

I shot at the 4" gong. AND hit it.

So I shot at it again.. AND hit it.

Third time - you guessed it - a HIT...!!!

Someday I'll get to doing a Range Report (I actually thought I'd already done a mini-one, but couldn't find it). If the gun shoots well, I'll post a detailed report; but if not, then it just meant my hits were 'luck', and I'll forget about it...
