Then, your point of view and question to the board should have been on a separate thread. You used some fairly harsh and unkindly words in describing the sort of fella who would post such innocent pictures, and enjoy looking at them, and the "type" of Lady who would allow those pictures of her be taken. Don't feel picked-on by Mike, we ALL have to keep an eye on you for your 'controversial' posts. I'm sure DHS and the GLBT 'Task Force' (http://www.thetaskforce.org/) are both keeping a close eye on you...

I feel sorry for Mike as I commented to in another post. He's only trying to do the best he can to 'moderate' between an unruly crowd of evil-levergunners and a few folks who are particularly 'sensitive' to off-color or easily-misinterpreted 'sexy' posts. I truly feel for him as that is a 'job' that NOBODY can do, because there is no pleasing everyone, and someone is always 'offended' by something.

Unless the Offended Person/Family is an owner or funder or otherwise 'boss' of the forum, they need to go elsewhere. If they are the 'boss' in some fashion, then WE are the ones who need to go elsewhere.

Again, not rocket science....

Plus, NOBODY need take offense, this is among the many issues where 'reasonable' people can agree-to-disagree, as we OBVIOUSLY have a severe societal problem with 'morality'. The only practical issue is whether or not this is something to be solved with 'legislation' or 'private-sector rules' or 'ignored'. I think the 'private sector' rules are most appropriate, and we are among MANY websites, employers, and other environments dealing with such issues.

In the end, I think most people will realize that the BIG problem is not what specific image/story/post/law is acceptable, but rather what the role of 'government' vs. 'church' is in that process. In my opinion (and I think that of our nation's founders) the government is NOT to have much say-so, but the church and 'private-sector' have much input.

We may be encountering some of that 'private-sector input' here. EVEN IF I DON'T SHARE THE FULL SPECTRUM OF OPINION of the forum owners, I defend their right to do whatever in 'heck' the want along those lines.

WAY better than if the government does so...

I am far more risqué than many other forum members may be, but am willing to try to adhere to the more strict forum standards when I post. If I post something too 'sexy' then I have no problem if someone in the hierarchy deletes it. If I want a forum where MY moral guidelines are the law, I will create my own forum. At this point, I feel the forum is AWESOME and members are wonderful people to interact with, so feel no need to 'start my own forum'.

Like others have said, there are FAR more pressing issues in our nation than whether OS posts a picture of some woman that happens to cause an increase in blood-flow to some particular organ-system due to whatever attributes apply.

Though the pictures here are perfectly legal, are they really needed and do they serve some deep primal need for your viewing pleasure? We lost another good lever gunner today because these pictures show up in far too many threads and while innocently going through topics, stuff photos show up objectifying women. Great example for his son, and hurtful to his wife. In my opinion, and in the opinion of the others, this isn't the place for this. I am sure there are other places you can post this stuff, where people won't be offended and such behavior is welcome. I don't think this forum is that place. It's not my forum. It's Paco's. I have been asked to help care for it. Here is the deal. I can't take care of it when those asked to help take care of it also, continually flood the forum with this stuff, and valued members encourage it. This forum should be self moderated to the highest standards that match the moral compass of the owner and those that come here. Frankly, it's not being that when we objectify others at the cost of our egos. So there you have it. These are my thoughts and those shared to me by others whom I respect here. I believe we are better than this. So did those who have gone by the way side.

How do we let these things devolve to this point when there is SO much more going on around us. Personally I don't care to see photos of women displayed in the forum who/that are:

A) Too fat
B) Too homely

I think my grammar is correct in the original posts. It does not say anything about the young lady in the photo. It does speak to objectifying women. Not all pictures do that. I didn't say this one did. I got a complaint. It did not say what thread it was on. So I purposely did not refer to that picture. However, it did fit the idea that it was inserted to get a certain reaction, thus objectifying women. And the question was is that needed?

Should I have posted in a different thread, sure. Maybe even not posted.

The complaints were real and a forum member is gone. I find that sad. That feeling, by the replies in the teo threads, puts me in the minority. I'm ok with that. What you do with this is up to you.

Madman, Blaine didn't post any pictures. It wasn't about Blaine's pictures. And I didn't refer to this picture at the center of this, I chose the thread as described above. It happens to be OS s picture that has the attention. Not what I was talking about because I did not know what thread the forum member saw. I said in my posts that the picture was fine by the guidelines given the moderators.

And I told Blaine I don't have a problem with him because of his thread title. I can have a different opinion and not have a problem with someone. In fact because of the grace I have received, I have I right to have a problem with anyone. No pictures were deleted though I have deleted others or cleaned up language in other posts. That does not mean I have a problem with someone. Means there is an issue to be addressed. That's as simple as I can say it.
