Buttstock 1963 M94

Post by wfo »

Do any of you fellers know if the butt of the stock on a 1963 model 94 was flat or slightly curved? I'm asking because mine has a Pacmayr White Line pad installed and I was thinking about getting an original plate for it, if it will fit. Mine has a straight cut on it. I took the Pacmayr off to look underneath and don't see any saw marks or numbers. Should these have a model number stamped into the butt? I'd be much obliged for any info on this.

On page 88 of Renneberg's book Winchester Model 94 it states post-war guns serial numbered 1,350,000 to 3,500,000 had a flat steel checkered buttplate. Later examples had a flat buttplate made of plastic with a Winchester logo.

The accompanying photos show a flat surface with no curvature.

I sure do appreciate it SHASTA. I see Butt Plates on ebay from time to time, but most have a slight curve. I reckon I'll keep lookin. I just didn't want to buy one and have it not fit because the butt had been sawed off to fit the Pacmayr.

That is the chance You are going to have to take if You want to change it. Other than doing detailed measurements of course.
