The Italians got it right on this one. I have longed for years for a Winchester 1886 in 45-70 and had to face it I could never afford a real Winchester 1886 so a few months ago I found this made by Chiappa and put it on lay a way, just picked it up today. I am so impressed with the workmanship of this rifle.
I'm not bashing the replica Winchester 1886 out of Japan but this blows it away, some of the features I like about it is there is no modern tang safety on it like the Winchester, and no re-bound hammer.
No warnings stamped on the barrel or gun anywhere, the only thing stamped on the barrel in fine stamping is TAYLOR and Co. WINCHESTER VA.
Also the walnut is excellent, wood to metal fit is perfect.
So if anybody has had the itch for a down to the "T" replica Winchester 1886 check these out.
Just a warning it weights a ton with the 26 in. octagonal barrel...LOL but that's just one more cool thing about it.
