Browning B-92 357 Iron Sights
Has anyone replaced their iron sights on one of these guns? Who makes sights that fit? My current sighting arrangement is not original and shoots too high and can't be adjusted down anymore.
Thanks.
Bill
Thanks.

I drilled and tapped mine for a Lyman 56 reciever sight. The front blade on the standard guns was fixed, on the orginals, and the Centennials, the blade was pinned into the base and could be replaced easily. You could mill or file the base on the front to accept a pinned blade and use a different front sight, or replace the rear sight with something that worked.

One thing to consider is: What ammo are you shooting ?
Some ammo's ballistics can easily exceed a given rifles factory set sight adjustment range.
And........
A higher front sight, as posted above - is a better fix, no question.
Whether or not you want to, or are able to, do the sight height calculation and replacement work is another matter.
But....................
If you measure the height, from the bottom of it's male dovetail to the top of the sight blade, of the rear sight, it may be able to be replaced with a lower-designed Marble's or Lyman folding rear sight - which are available in different heights.
In fact, after you get your sight height measured, PM me with the measurement.
I have a couple of folders, of different heights, in my scrounge box.
If one's lower than your measurement, I'll be glad to send it to you - If that's the way you decide to go.

Re: Browning B-92 357 Iron Sights
Dale Storey's shop put this Lyman 66 on my B92 many years ago. They also smoothed out the trigger and replaced the rear sight with a sight blank. With 158 grain jacketed factory ammo it came back dead on.
I really wished I lived close to that shop or Steve Young's business. I've got more leveractions I would to have some work done on, but I've pretty much stopped shipping guns.

I went with a Marbles folder and tang on mine.

Re: Browning B-92 357 Iron Sights
Which Marble tang sight is that? I may go with a folding rear sight in which case I'll get a tang sight as well.casastahle wrote:I went with a Marbles folder and tang on mine.
Thanks everyone for their suggestions.
Re: Browning B-92 357 Iron Sights
I'm also not seeing the folding sight in Marbles online listing. They have one but it doesn't have an elevator. Marble told me that only the 66/67/68 non folding sights would work.
Re: Browning B-92 357 Iron Sights
Thanks for the offer, I'm not sure if I'm up to trying to figure this out myself. I know I don't want to even considering trying to install the sights.Pete44ru wrote:One thing to consider is: What ammo are you shooting ?

Re: Browning B-92 357 Iron Sights
Does the installation of the tang peep sight require drilling any holes or does it fit into the existing ones?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hummm!! I think one hole had to be D&T'd, I turned everything over to myFloyd wrote:Does the installation of the tang peep sight require drilling any holes or does it fit into the existing ones?

Gunsmith and let him put it all together and bore sighted.

[Does the installation of the tang peep sight require drilling any holes or does it fit into the existing ones?]
Most levergun tang sights utilize the existing rifle's rear tang screw hole location to anchor the rear end of the tang sight base, using a longer-than-issue tang screw.
Some sight makers supply the screw, other sell the longer screw separately.
The front end of the tang sight base must also be anchored - either in a factory-prepped D/T'd hole (usually plugged) or in one that must be added prior to the sight install.
When adding a tanger, the rear barrel sight is either removed for a clean sight picture, of changed to a folder so the barrel sight can be zeroed for one distance (usually short range) and the tanger for more deliberate shots at a longer distance - all with the issue height front sight blade.
If you decide to lose the rear barrel sight, most install a slot filler in the open barrel dovetail.

Re: Browning B-92 357 Iron Sights
Has anyone installed an original type 92 carbine ladder sight? Does the Browning 1886 carbine sight fit? Someone may have mentioned in this discussion, but what is the dovetail on the B92--Win .375 or what?

Hi Bill,
I never recieved the first email but I got the second one. I sent you an email about these sights. Let me know if you got it. If you didn't we may have to PM this.
As for mountining the marbles tang your B-92 is not drilled but I can take care of that. They mount using a longer stock screw and a D&T-ed hole for the front screw. Notice the two holes.

Greg,
The Carbine ladder sights are available and will work on the late model Rossi's. But, they aren't cheap.
