Was one of those days that really made me appreciate living in Ohio.
75 and mostly sunny and very little humidity.
Had the whole place to myself!

First up was the new 99 / 30-30. I'd shot it already offhand at cans and
chunks of firewood. Did well but wanted to know what she could do.

I like to start a new gun with factory ammo if available to give me a starting point
with my handloads. Top target is winchester 170 Gr Power Points @ 50 yds.
After two sighters four rounds went into 1 1/8" .
Next up, just for fun was Hornady's LeverEv. 160 Gr Flex tips.
One, two and three are in a row 1 3/4" wide and then 3 & 4 open up to 2 1/4"

Third target , lower left is Hornady 100 gr. Short Jacket and 8 gr. Unique.
Fun, light small game load that's very pleasant to shoot and don't have to change sight settings
at 50 +/-.
I'm sure the widening of the groups as the barrel heats up is due to the barrel clamp/ sling swivel but I like it so it's gong to stay.
Next up was Grandad's custom .257 Roberts built from a Japanese Arisaka
Great little carbine that always turns in great groups. 1" at 50 yds today.
It will do that at 100 if I'm doing my part.

And my 94P / 44 Magnum.

Have been wanting a heavier load for this little bugger.
Loaded up some 270 gr. Speer Gold Dot over 18.5 Gr. Win 296.
Got a two inch group with this load though the manual stated
load required a magnum primer. Since there were none to be found
i used a standard CCI Large Rifle.
After the session I dropped off the guns, put the top down and
headed off the largest gun/ sporting good shop I know of w/in an
hour's drive.
They had a few thousand of each in stock except magnums..
Oh well. Have to make another trip next week. Did buy 1k of Large
rifle and 1k large pistol. Limit was 2k per visit.
Days like these makes it worth puting up with the snow and the
cold (not that i mind anyway
