My father did finally die

Post by brucew44guns »

I posted about 6 weeks ago that my dad was dieing of cancer in California. He did finally expire this morning sometime after 3 AM Calif time. Many of you commented on that other post, telling me how valuable that last visit with him would be later on in my life, and you were totally right, I can see all that even now. I stayed about 5 days total last month on that trip, wish it could have been more,-----priceless. At least he will be out of pain and no more worries now. He had a great life, and left a lot of good behind him, to his credit. Thanks to all of you who expressed support, it's big time appreciated. Bruce

Heal well friend.

There is no death. What seems so is transition. All that is beautiful and good and true in human life is no more affected by the shadow of death than by the darkness that divides today from tomorrow.
Our paths lead not to the grave but through it. Immortal we are and ever shall be. We look not to another life, but to the perfecting of this one. In God's good time we shall be raised by His right hand to that higher, fairer phase of life for which this is only the preparation.
Kind regards,
Tycer

Bruce,
You have my heartfelt sympathies. My father has cheated death 5 times in the last 15 years. I know his time is coming soon, but I'm fortunate that my parents moved within 4 miles of us, from CA, about 3 years ago. My son is able to do what I was not...bond with my grandfather.

Bruce,
Tough loss my man. Most of us here have already experienced it and yes, not a day goes by without me thinking of my Dad. He was the reason why I am enjoying this great hobby today. He instilled it in me at an early age to which I will forever be eternally grateful.
Life goes on and be grateful you had a last good visit with him. In time, you guys will be back together again.------------Sixgun

Bruce,

My Pops died a year ago but it was not sudden and out of the blue. Me
and all of the people close to him were able to assemble and say goodbye. What
a truly exceptional gift to see those you love before they depart. I'm gifted in
this matter, and so are you. I miss him terribly though, He was my best friend.
I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

Regards,

Troy

Bruce, I'm very sorry for your loss, and at the same time happy for your father. You know what I mean. Also, I'm very glad that you got to spend some final time toghether and most likely your "goodbyes." That certainly helps; it helped me.

Also, welcome to the Dead Dads Club. Things will never be the same, but given time things will get easier to cope with your father gone. My own father died on 12 April 1997, almost 12 years now. I still miss him, and my mother still has to cope with the loss living in the house they built and in which raised their family. She was in a "lost funk" for about a year and a half but since early 1999 she's through it and moving on.

But that said, some days it's just like yesterday . . .

Prayers and best wishes for you and yourd during this difficult time.

Noah
