We lived in Huntersville for a year while Dad was stationed in Marlinton. If your wife is familiar with the town, this was 1961 and we lived in the antebellum house that is now derelict. Well, it looked abandoned to me. The two-room school house was at the back of the property. I guess that wrecking yard or whatever it is owns that property now.john4me05 wrote:Shawn.. My wife is from Pocahontas county.. Her family lived at the base of Watoga on Beaver Creek... I know a few people from up that wayshawn_c992001 wrote:I used to live over in Pocahontas Co. Yeah, the motorcycle shop was in Huntersville. Unfortunately Amos passed away about two years or so ago, gone but not forgotten. I believe his daughter's husband is going to open it back up.
I moved there around 1990 on RT. 92 in a little bottom called "Wildcat Run". I graduated from Pocahontas Co. High in 1999, GO WARRIORS! I do know quite a few Burr's and Underwood's from up in Beaver Creek.

Yeah it is on the straight stretch from the new stop and go to the old one now painted lime green. The Post Office used to be right straight across from the gate on the road to the old house and you could look across an empty field to the church and see the jail from the house. The lime green place was unpainted and the only store in town. I attended the two-room school for one year.
Sincerely,
Hobie

John, I left Covington in 73 and moved to Alderson in Greenbrier County and graduated from Greenbrier East High School in 1983. I moved to Roanoke that year and been here ever since. I used to hunt ground hogs up in Stoney Bottom above Cass and hung around Marlington some back in the 80's. Beautiful country. I now have a small farm below Alderson and am thinking of moving there and buildong a new house soon. Need to have a small levergun shoot up your way and I will plan to attend. Later, moodyholler AKA James Parker

Welcome aboard, John.

It's like family here, maybe more so for you all with the connections and all!
You'll never need another site to do your homework with that .35.
That's a great gun you got there, my uncle Bob alawys carries his and it shoots a dream.
Really slugs those deer.
