He told me at the time he'd based his pricing on what he had paid for the guns in his collection. It's mostly AR-15s, and more modern arms that I had little interest in. I paid him the $500 he wanted for the '94 and din't think much more about it. Good condition and a fairly decent shooter I'd planned to hang on to it for awhile.
Quentin and I went back to his place last weekend and he started accusing me of only paying $500 for a $1,700 rifle. I asked what planet he thought he was on or if he'd skipped his meds and he said he'd looked it up on GunBroker. I wanted to know the details of what he'd looked up, but he could not provide them. Not wanting to get into a real argument in front of Quentin, I told the A hat to have a nice day and we're done.
I found nearly the same rifle on GB for $599 and printed it out.
After spending yet another week in the hospital and got out just yesterday(finally got the ulcers sealed up by the right team) I wanted to walk the Ohio Gun Collectors Show that was at a new facility close to home.
I sold the '94 for $650 within a half hour and walked, slowly with a cane, and came across a great deal on a 2006 Ltd Ed. 1895 SRC. The stock has a couple of scrapes in the finish that are an easy fix. Otherwise it's in nearly new condition. I got him down to $1,200 and went home a happy camper.
