It drives me nuts how when some folks find out you own firearms, they literally invite themselves to "come over and shoot sometimes", or ask "what all kinds of guns do you have...?"
Now these aren't people you've been introduced to by a mutual friend, or met at a firearms-oriented event, or somehow have any other legitimate connection to, or expectation of trustability from. The ones I'm talking about are ones like in my case a new patient (of course I find out later with a criminal record and a diagnosis of schizophrenia with paranoid delusions) who sees the UPS guy drop off a big heavy package (Champion Target Texas Star I got myself for being a Good Boy and daring to save a bunch of money by fixing my car - and succeeding in the savings by actually not screwing the repair up), and of course one of my employees says to another "Looks like Doc got some heavy boxes today - probably a bunch of ammo..."
The patient's dad is with him (even though he's an adult) and literally says "I used to run them hills where you live at - haven't been down there in a long time, but we ought to come down there and do some shootin' - I think my wife and son would get along better if they got some time together like that..."
Now MY callous attitude is that if you want a place to shoot, then either get a job and buy yourself some land (in this case preferably far away from me), or join a shooting range. Don't expect me to suddenly befriend you just because you 'need' a place to shoot. I worked my butt off and made many a sacrifice to have the privacy of my own modest 100 yard range out in the swampy mosquito-infested swamps of southern Indiana, and by the kind grace of God giving me the mind and body and motivation to work hard, it is MINE...!
I also get driven nuts by employees who don't seem to realize that people overhear what they say, and it has consequences. I am friendly and close with my patients once I get to know them, but my life isn't meant to be on public display.
Come to think of it, LOTS of things 'drive me nuts' these days - it's getting to be a pretty short trip....

BTW here's the new target setup - I'll post a 'range report' once I can get it set up. Sadly, the path to the range is between a swamp and a steep hillside full of briars, and has a partially-fallen deathtrap tree hanging 40 feet overhead that we have to clear before access is very safe.
