Getting the Sights Close on the Shootists Anniversary Gun
Had a few moments at the Range this morning. Got it sighted pretty close with some 800 to 900 fps loads. I fired a couple of my heavy 300 gr. loads but they hurt when you are shooting sitting down! And I don't enjoy the recoil anymore. Sticking with the standard velocity loads.

That certainly looks like you are on.
Re: Getting the Sights Close on the Shootists Anniversary Gun
I used 3 different bullets at close to the same velocity ..
the Keith SWC - 260 gr. - with Unique
the SSK270 - 270 gr. - with Green Dot
the #452664 - 250 gr. - with 700X
They all hit pretty much the same place ...
Here is the SSK target

I’m looking to stick with revolver loads at around 800-900 fps and around 1000 or so in the Marlin.
I figure that’s plenty.

Me too. My old shoulders just don't like the quick sharp recoil anymore. And this is a fun gun. The whole family can enjoy it. The 250 gr. FP at 800 fps is pleasant to shoot and it's accurate. I have a bunch of them loaded up from the old CAS days. I never shot powder puff loads. The smokeless loads were at least 800 fps and my blackpowder loads were always a case full of blackpowder.

Easing that rear sight up a half turn at a time. Three shot groups at 30 yards.

Just another half a turn or two and id say you will have it nicely centered.

A full turn to raise the impact at 100 a bit.
This gun really shoots! 8 gr 231 250 gr RNFP
Works just fine in the Colt as well.
I like to take my time and shoot a gun over the course of a few weeks before locking everything down.

Final adjustment before the Holiday.
If I have not said it, I’m really impressed with this rifle.

Y'all are making me antsy to get up north and take a gander at these rifles. Have yet to hear of an issue with any of them. Have wanted a 45 Colt rifle for a few decades now, looks like this will be one well worth having. Thanks for sharing your process with us. Send a couple downrange for me out at Whittington!

I never shoot as much as I plan to. So this time I’m going to concentrate on these two.

Re: Getting the Sights Close on the Shootists Anniversary Gun
Sounds like a sound plan.
I've made up various mental lists of what I'd take this year, but it's all theoretical at this point. My Tyler Gunworks Ruger would pair up nicely with the Anniversary rifle. Maybe next year. That gives me time to lay in some brass and hopefully get up there to load it.
