Short delay in the experiments with the ultrasonic.
This is what happens when hillbillies start thinking their builders. Insulation? What's that?
The addition on the back of my old farmhouse was probably done in the late '40s, to '50s looking at the construction style and lumber used. Probably redone in the '90s with the garbage plastic PVC plumbing that decided to freeze and break at 3AM last Thursday morning. This place is usually as quiet as a cemetery but I kept hearing something and then the water pressure pump kicked on a couple times so I got up to have a look around.
Water all over the second floor bathroom and then down through the first floor. What a mess, spent hours cleaning up what I could after getting the supply shut off.
Kept at it for a while then thought to myself, I work for an insurance company for crying out loud, what the heck an I doing this for?
Got on the phone around 7am with a friend that has a Mitigation company. Still had to wait until Friday to get their guys out because of all the claims they were getting in. Called my boss to ask what I should do and he told me to get it started and he have another adjuster work it since for some crazy reason I can't write my own claims and checks!
All torn out and mostly dry now. Still some damp lumber. Plumber is coming out next week to eliminate the PVC. Going back with PEX, better product and far more durable. An inconvenience, but at least I get a start on the bathroom remodels I was planning anyway. Too bad it didn't take out the kitchen too. It's going to be next on the list.
I did get to the gun shop to look for Griff's suggestion on cleaning agents, but they were out. A couple of the counter guys suggested the dish soap as well so I gave it a try this evening. I did help, still need to take the side plate off and give it a good scrubbing, and run it through again.
