OT--Browning A-Bolt vs. Winchester pre-64 mod. 70

For years I would have said "no contest" between the Browning A-Bolt and the Pre-64 model 70 Winchester. Now, I'm not so sure. Recently I bought a neat little Browning A-Bolt with nice wood and dull stainless barrel and action. So nice to raise the bolt handle and not be anywhere near the ...

Barrel throat erosion--how to lessen

I'm wondering if there's a barrel steel or barrel liner that would slow down the throat erosion that's such a problem with the faster, overbore cartridges. My main concern is the 243 Winchester. Be nice to be able to sometimes shoot fast with this cartridge from a lever-action or semi-auto without b...

In some cases the lighter and smaller, the better. That's my opinion of the KelTec 32 auto. If you have not looked at and handled this one give it a try. Drop it in your shirt pocket is right. There's also holsters that fit in your back pocket for this gun. They are made to stay in your pocket when ...

Ysabel,

Regarding your dad's S&W model 19. I had one and may have another. Possibly my favorite handgun. Too, the 357 cartridge helps. Big fan of that cartridge. Absolute tops in the Browning B-92. And it's another gun I'll just have to have--again.

I recently mentioned going to a gun auction and a Henry rifle sold for $28,500.00. I know some guns go a lot higher. 10X and more ! One that comes to mind is the SxS double rifle Teddy Roosevelt used on his famous African Safari around 1909. Few years ago I heard what it was valued at but don't reca...
