OT--Browning A-Bolt vs. Winchester pre-64 mod. 70
For years I would have said "no contest" between the Browning A-Bolt and the Pre-64 model 70 Winchester. Now, I'm not so sure. Recently I bought a neat little Browning A-Bolt with nice wood and dull stainless barrel and action. So nice to raise the bolt handle and not be anywhere near the ...

Since I have some wants and to sells in the classified section just want to remind people IT EXISTS. I haven't spent much time there until today. Hey, if it'd been there I'd have bought it. I'm thinking many other people, like me, have not given this section a good look. I plan to visit this cllassi...

OT--California Gun Laws
Read recently that it's illegal to bring handguns into california with magazines capable of holding over 10 rounds. Correct? Also read that when you move to California you must fill-out a form registering all your handguns. A form for each handgun and a fee of 19 dollars per gun. Kinda starts to Pee...

Barrel throat erosion--how to lessen
I'm wondering if there's a barrel steel or barrel liner that would slow down the throat erosion that's such a problem with the faster, overbore cartridges. My main concern is the 243 Winchester. Be nice to be able to sometimes shoot fast with this cartridge from a lever-action or semi-auto without b...

In some cases the lighter and smaller, the better. That's my opinion of the KelTec 32 auto. If you have not looked at and handled this one give it a try. Drop it in your shirt pocket is right. There's also holsters that fit in your back pocket for this gun. They are made to stay in your pocket when ...

OT--some--What are the most expensive guns?
I recently mentioned going to a gun auction and a Henry rifle sold for $28,500.00. I know some guns go a lot higher. 10X and more ! One that comes to mind is the SxS double rifle Teddy Roosevelt used on his famous African Safari around 1909. Few years ago I heard what it was valued at but don't reca...

Do some of you older members remember the old Brylcreem (Hair grooming) commercial? Here in Indiana this morning we have what I refer to as "Brylcreem Weather." 3 degrees this morning with wind. In the commercial is a "line" that goes, "a little dab will do ya." So I sa...

Matton Gun Auction Report
Went to Mattoon, Illinois today. Had 5 guns selling there. Lasted so long I came home before 3 had sold. I was there from about 8:30 till 5:30 p.m. Snow and blowing, perhaps close to the worst day of the year. Lots of people and guns. Maybe most I've seen there. Had the pleasure of meeting Levergun ...

Don, My friend got his Weatherby MK V 416 Weatherby Magnum a few days ago. We could not test til now. But one thing is sure the 460 Weatherby Magnum is not as bad as you may think. Carl, I live south of Terre Haute. You mention Whittier. Remember Harris Oldsmobile in Whittier? Many years ago I worked on Clint Harris's ranch near Mitchell, Oregon. I just bought the Silencio model CTA-05 ear muffs. Think they'll do a better job than my plugs that are supposed to prevent harmful levels of sound.
Got'em through CDNN's internet site.
Any of you have these muffs?

Easy question. Deer and varmints mainly--25-06 Lots of Elk, grizzley, etc.--7mm mag Regarding 25-06 ruining lots of meat. Should not if tougher, 115-120 gr bullet used. the 7mm mag would ruin as much or more with some of it's lighter bullets. For most people's hunting the 25-06 is plenty for all the...

Was at Gander Mountain couple of days ago and saw this Browning A-Bolt, stainless with wood stock, pencil barrel, tang safety--which I like a bunch--and even palm swell on right side of pistol grip. Any one here have this Taurus Judge handgun? Have it on order? How many 00 buck would a 2 1/2" 410 shell hold? How much pressure would this gun take with 45 Colt bullets seated way out for lots of powder? For you that don't know: This is a 5 shot gun that will shoot either 2 1/2" 410 shell...

Anyone here have the S;ringfield replica of the GI 1911 pistol? Thinking about buying one.
Wondering about the price and quality.
Could I buy THE REAL THING in good condition for the same money?
In terms of historic significance this one's right up there with the Colt SAA.
